Here's the Acer cash-back link (find "LU.S670B.015" - 14 entries up from the bottom of the page):
    Aspire One AOD250 $79 Cashback (N487) from 01 Apr 2009 to 30 Jun 2009.
I'm unsure what the "new" D250 offers over the superceded D150. I thought I'd seen a review on an overseas site that spoke of the "new Intel N280 processor", but not necessarily, according to the spec's on the Acer AU site.

seems to have the same crappy trackpad

      • "the same crappy trackpad"???
The same as the D150: L/R buttons below the touch-pad (like a "normal" laptop), UNLIKE the Aspire One 8.9": L/R buttons to each side of the touch-pad…
Which configuration are you referring to mr_asstight?

the 9" is much more usable. Go try it out yourself. It's not the actual buttons i'm talking about it's the responsiveness

          • @mr_asstight: We've had an Acer Aspire One 8.9" for about 6 months, but I've not played with a D150/250 so I can't comment.
I do remember reading reviews criticising the touch pad / button arrangement on the 8.9"ers though.
            Personally, I dislike glide-pads altogether so I generally use a w'less mouse.

Only on the internet can you get a conversation where you can use the name "Mr_Asstight" and nobody thinks it strange :)

          • @WhiteEvo6: I think you may be assuming that no-one finds it strange hotzone…
Perhaps it's more that no-one wants to "go there"!!! LOL

              @mr_asstight: +1 for a bargain comedy act

              • @ruraro: Ruraro, could I ask for your feed-back on these D250s, esp' v the D150?
Also of course, any-one else's knowledge or experience??

                Thanks,
                Jean-Luc.

@TeaEarlGreyHot: From the Acer website comparing D150 vs D250, we find the D250 is smaller, lighter, thinner, has a brigher LCD, internal 3G option, multitouch keypad with gestures, easy access WWAN/bluetooth switch and (maybe) an internal 3G option.

In some markets, the D250 comes with the atom-280 cpu. Not this one though.
                  D250 is the superior tech.

  • Does anyone know if they come with 100-240v power supplies? I'm looking for one to go travelling with and i'm uncertain.. I know the Asus 1000HE and the MSI Wind U100+ both do and this one is also on the list.

  • A better deal is available at MWAVE…

    $550 - $79 = $471 + shipping

They have the D250 in stock in black or red in limited quantiies according to today’s Mwave newsletter for $550-$79=$471+shipping.

    I have experience with both the 8.9 A110 and the 10.1 D250

I bought the 8.9 (512, 8GBSSD) last September for my niece. I loved it!. Booted in 15 sec; shutdown quicker. The Limpus Lite apps were great. The niece wasn't happy with the Linux learning curve so in came a macbook for her (not real impressed with the plastic) and I got the AAO to play with. Again, I loved it, great feel although the track pad buttons were difficult. This ran Open Office 2.4 and Firefox very well! The restore software on the 8.9 has a bug that won't recognize the mouse click on the trackpad to continue restore; needs a usb mouse. (that took a bit of research to figure out.) Other than that I still love the 8.9, limpus lite and believe this is a credit to Acer. Due to the tremendous power efficiency of the AAO, I decided to use it as the navigation centre of a small sailboat that I cruise on. However, the one application I really need, Shipplotter, only runs on Windoz. I spent two weeks trying to get tinyxp onto the AAO without a CD drive and never got there. In the end, I sold the AAO 8.9 on ebay for $90 less than I paid for it (including $99 rebate.) and went straight out and bought the D250 10.1 at Mwave ($550-$79.)

The D250 fixes the trackpad button problem with a rocker at the bottom of the trackpad. Works well. I haven't played with the multi gestures on the trackpad yet so no report. at 1GB with a 120GB HD, the D250 boots XP in 35 sec. Not bad. I'm running Firefox, Open Office 3. The wireless works well but constantly interrupts me when I have the ethernet cable plugged in. The only way I can put it to bed is to disable wireless but that's a pain as I move from wired to wireless connections and back.

I love the D250; it just oozes quality. BTW there's no real difference in use between an 8.9 and a 10.1 screen. It is difficult to adjust to either after using a 22" LCD.

    • Great to have your comparative feed-back SteveDude…
