Supercheap is doing a runout on Mobil 1's, according to my local store they're discontinuing them completely hence the prices. If you're lucky and found your local store to have store (that's a struggle…) then they're cheaper than the usual suspects on eBay. If you're unlucky and ended up needing to get them shipped from their warehouse in Gympie then it's a so-so deal. Still slightly cheaper than from eBay.

Note: Stock level are low and availability are hit or miss. Be warned.

EDIT: as if Mobil will stop making this, it's just Supercheap will no longer stock Mobil 1's. Probably Mobil's in general as all the Mobil oil have disappeared off the shelves at my local.

EDIT #2: All the 5L 0W-40 and 5W-30's gone. All the 1L's still here…just. You could ring 'em up and get them to check their stock system to track down where are they still available at as their online stock allocation is somewhat separate from their physical store's stock allocation.

    For the VW fanbois, the 5W-30 is NOT 504/507 approved though I've been using that for years in my Mk5 R32 and oil analysis shows no epic wear issues.

          That's one of my dilemma at the moment - 300v is a racing oil, no one's got a definitive answer on how the synthetic ethyl/ester breaks down over a larger number of heat cycles as oppose to a road going oil. Oh $50/2L isn't exactly cheap either.

    Still got a few Mobil 1 EP which i got online.

    Hmmm thinking of using the remaining Mobil 1 EP then switching to Honda Ultra Leo 0-20 SM which is supposedly quite good.
    Needa check what price Honda will charge for their 0W-20 though, might need to go look for another oil.

          eBay.

          There's 2 main sellers on there. One is Sydney based and the other is Melbourne IIRC. I've purchased from the Sydney one on number of occasions now.

        Repco don't, they stock some of the silver oils but not the gold, and Autobarn do but they're more expensive than Supercheap are (were), and as far as I know they never really have 20% off, as that was the only time I bought it as it made it a decent priced oil then.

      Kinda like when Repco purged Motul from their store, those things were discounted at an even higher rate.

      Just use penrite hpr5. Its 5W-40 vs 0W-40 but its still MB229.5 approval and its half the price of that gold M1.

        As I said, I only ever bought oil whenever it was 20% off so I didn't find it too bad. I had considering the Penrite before but was happy with the Mobil 1.

        Already got my last batch for my service in April when they had the boxing day sale, so won't have to worry about it till closer to October when the service after that is due.

        Wonder why they're no longer stocking it, probably losing too much money when everyone else just buys oil when they have 20% sales :-P

    Stocks are running pretty darn low, just called them re 1L 0W-40, there's around 250ish of them left unsold around the country. Forgot to ask the really helpful bloke about the others…
