It feels like I'm buying a costco membership…

Wonder if we can make a ozbargain shared COTD account and we all chip in for this lol

    • +3

Second that idea! Petition for ozbargain shared COTD!!!

I think the title should be more like "12 month unlimited Shipping $79.00…"

    • Yep, price in title would be helpful.

    • +1

Exactly, it's not free, if you're paying $79.00 for it!

  • Unlimited Free Shipping

t&cs clearly show this is not necessarily true. "Does this cover oversized and/or fragile items? No, this only applies to regular parcels."

you need to buy an awful lot of cotd crap to come out ahead

    • Not really, would take 8 orders to come out ontop,

I know I have passed on a lot of things from COTD due to postage so could be a good deal for some,

Partner up with some friends/family charge few $ postage or something like that and could end up being a good work aorund

Title should be "COTD - 12 month unlimited Shipping $79.00 (conditions apply)"

  • +3

With the selection of items that they have had over the last year I highly doubt I will be able to get my money's worth

  • +4

If it excludes oversized and/or fragile items they should atleast provided discounted shipping for these items

  • +2

Just wait for the free shipping offers they have from time to time.

  • +1

soon, they will be updating their policy regarding regular parcels :)

  • anyone want to share with me :) send me PM if you want.

I've got this from the last time that they did it. I've often been put off from things from catchoftheday because any deal they have is normally ruined by the shipping.

For the oversize clause, the only thing that I haven't been able to get free shipping on so far has been the rekordlig (not sure how to speeeeel that) short dates cider.
Other than that We've had over 30 parcels from catch in just over 5 weeks many being just one item.

Also note that you can have 3 addresses that get free shipping, so it's easy to go 50/50 or 3 ways with someone/a couple of people and make sure you get your money's worth.

It really does come in when they have things like the $10 eneloops, free items and 1cent items that you can buy without worrying about the shipping. It was a risk when we did it (I split it with someone else) but I would do it again.

    Just my 2cents.

If you do split it with someone else or a couple of people then make sure that you always either pay with PayPal or select not to save the credit cases info, I made the mistake but luckily the person I went half in with is trustworthy.

    • So its linked to the account? or is it a code which is linked to an address?

      • It's linked to an account, so you can use an account you've already got or you can create a new joint account. Once you log in to the account postage will automatically be deducted without having to use a code.

  • Good idea with the splitting and thanks for sharing your experience. Now I might get the deal. :)

We bought one last time round (there were only 500 that round)- not only does it mean that you buy more often because it is a better deal, you also dont try to put everything in one order to save postage, if you think something will sell out, you just buy it fast while everyone else is filling their carts.
We also split with our in-laws, and have got some stuff just free. Groceryrun is an at least weekly buy, normally every couple of days.

  • +5

I got this last time it was offered.

Warning - you'll end up buying more stuff!

    Before free shipping:
"Hmm $2 box of almost expired jubes… shipping $8.29 per box! Tell 'em they're dreaming"

    After free shipping:
    "Hmm $2 box of almost expired jubes… I think I'll take 3!"

I've also picked up a couple of dozen "just pay shipping" deals which were free at the end of the day.

BTW those $2 jubes aren't bad.
