  • Is there any difference between this and the previous "non-LED" model?

Can't you just use LED globes with the older model to achieve the same thing?

Bunnings stock these "non-LED" models for approximately $140-150 and ebay retailers have them for around the $130 mark - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GRANGE-52-CEILING-FAN-LIGHT-WHITE…

Yes, there are subtle differences in the "non-LED" version and this advertised model. The previous version has a glass diffuser, this model has an acrylic diffuser - advantage is the lens is shallower, acrylic diffuses light better and acrylic is less likely to contribute to potential rattling noises. Overall, it looks much smarter.

Yes you are right, you can use LED globes in the older model. What you will find however is you end up with dark spots on the lens as most LED globes only throw light on a 180 degree plain. To purchase a quality LED lamp supported by a quality Australian retailer, you will pay between $15-$25 each for something that will produce 600 lumens of light and have a decent warranty. This new model has a LED panel that ensures an even and smooth distribution of light.

Another fantastic feature of this LED panel is it is replaceable and in the event it fails prematurely, it is covered by a 2 year in-home warranty. The panel is also sold as a spare part.

      • Great, thanks for the very informative post!

  • These are almost the same fans as the Martec Lifestyle 52" 12w LED sold at lighting illusions for $164 incl delivery.

They use an 'inca led' which means you have to buy those specific replacement LEDs.

You could just buy the Martec Lifestyle 52" e27 for $139 and put 1 or 2 LED bulbs into it for a total cost of about the same as the dedicated LED but much brighter or just use CFLs.

  • How does this post qualify as a bargain?

    What are the savings?

  • The question I have is around the ebay account, looks like it's been dormant for 3 years and was selling workpants prior. How do we know this account is legit?

    • Yes, you're correct about the account being dormant for the last 3 years. We have however had a number of sales over the last few weeks and I can assure you that the account is legit. Stay tuned for more products listed and more specials in the future.
