  • Would this be the latest super slim model PS3?

    • Yes

The PlayStation 3 system gives you everything you want.

Hmmmm what should I start with?

  • I paid $179 for this with Uncharted 2 and a HDMI Cable from Target last year! :)
But it was pickup so ummm this is still a good deal if you can only do delivered.

  • How has the 12GB worked out for you, space-wise?

    • Well.. umm i've played zero games on it and havent even opened Uncharted 2.. but it works ok as a 3D Bluray player… not the best though.. probably should of just got a standalone player lol oh well a bargains a bargain haha

FYI Games can load around 6Gb's on the PS3.. some load nothing! The hard drive is more for digial downloads as you can uninstall the games off the 12GBs!! and always have 3-4 games on the machine at a time.

Also upgrading to a 500gb hard drive is easy done

  • Hmm.. seemed like a good price?

  • This is the best deal in the world

  • Actually from a past deal at Big W - PS3 160GB for $149.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/120507

Think I will wait for a deal on the 120GB or 160GB PS3.

    12GB is very limiting.

160gbs and 120gbs are discontinued and you won't find any of these at retailer stores.

    • Maybe add this?

      PlayStation 3 250GB Hard Drive $68

Not good value per GB, but makes it quick and easy.

      • As far as I'm aware any HDD will do, so long as it's 2.5". There are much cheaper options available at MSY or pccasegear.

        http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21…

As for installation, here's a quick youtube guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKGV6H_NC2I

There are countless other guides online if that doesn't suit

        • Adding to that; unlike the previous PS3 models the HDD bracket is not included with the Super Slim console. It is supposed to be purchased separately (~about $10-15) or is included in the upgrade kits as linked above. Some thrifty OzBargainers have substituted this bracket for cardboard instead.

any HDD will do, so long as it's 2.5"

Is there no restriction on the thickness of the drives? There used to be 7mm and 9mm drives (or something like that) and the thick ones wouldn't fit in every device.

  • With all the usb ports, couldn't you just attach an external hard drive?

    • You can, but only to backup save games, play music/videos etc. You cannot use a USB drive for games.

      • That's annoying!! What is with this new age video games, installing them on a hard drive? Like GTA 5 takes so much space to install. What happened to the good old days of PS2, when you would just pop the disc in, it would load and you could play without installing anything?
