[Steam] Grid 2 $10.19, All In DLC Pack $11.89

70

This is a bad opening line for a post but; It's not the cheapest this game has been. The DLC however is at an all time low, and the price of the game is pretty decent too.

Steam Daily Deal;

Personally surprised at the very average reviews on Steam. I found it better in almost every way to Grid 1 with far more interesting tracks and a more focused 'storyline'. Drift events aren't nearly as stupid as the original which would have the AI sitting at about 100k points and any human player at 20million+. Add to that the AI is better in general. The variety in tracks particularly with the addition of height (Grid 1 tracks were very flat and boring) eg Okutama, Peak Road Descent. The game to me felt almost exactly like Juiced. The car handling some of the event locations are very reminiscent of that game.

I would like to add, that any review that says 'drifting around every corner is the only way the game can do corners' are simply wrong. The game requires delicate throttle control, particularly with some of the high end cars. Yes you can drift every corner, but if you are not driving properly (ie brake, downshifting, taking the racing line, accelerating out of corners) then you are doing it wrong. In essence, taking a corner at a speed that can only result in drifting should not surprise the driver when they result in a drift.

  • Do people still play this online? Sigh at being no popular good racing games for pc :(

    • I can't comment on PC, but PS3 has an active online. Also, the host migration on the console version is amazing, if it weren't for the little bit of text saying the host has migrated I would never know.

On the PC version the small online community is split by the decision of the dev to use your Steam Download Region as the matchmaking filter. This means that if you want to play online you have to set your donwnload region to London UK and restart Steam, play the game and then set it back afterwards.

    • I haven't evolved / progressed enough to worry about any online competition yet. I'm still going through qualifications which I think is computer generated anyway so it doesn't matter who is or isn't online :)

I loved GRID1, 30hours+ in that game. Amazing on PC.

  • I couldn't really get in to grid2. It seems to really jerk my G27 left or right for no rhyme or reason. Couldn't find a solution to this.
    Has anyone tried the DLC?

I still have a few codes for a full copy of GRID 2 from the Intel promo last year.

Not sure if it's still redeemable but let me know if you want a code to give it a go.

    • Hi :) I'd really appreciate a Grid 2 code if possible please.

Been so looking forward to give it a go.

      Thanks heaps :)

    • I wouldn't mind one either, but I'd feel kind of bad considering I posted this deal :)

        • The code is definitely working for me too… Thanks again for going out of your way to do this aikoau. :)

    • Hi, if you could share one code with me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

    • If you still have one, I'd really appreciate it.

      Thanks.

  • Thanks for posting… Also interested on how the online play is?

  • Thanks a lot aikoau, it´s working. Thanks for sharing for free!!!
    You deserve a public ovation! :D :D

  • I should have said this in my first comment; While the (PS3) online is active, there are quite a lot of tools, people who whenever they overtake you flick the back end into your car and slam you off the tracks. Choosing hardcore mode (turns damage on) weans out the boys from the men and the quality of racing improves. It also doesn't help that you have upto 12 cars in a race, often in single or dual lane tracks. It would probably help to find a group of like minded racers to play online with.
