Vodafone cancelled my order. Similar plans?

So, I'm in the market for a new phone, and decided on a Samsung Galaxy Express.

I bought it through the Vodafone website, $0 upfront on their 24 month $30 plan.

All good, signed up, filled out their forms wanting proof of identity, credit and whatnot. I got emailed order confirmation.

The next day I was sent an email that said my order was cancelled, as they were out of stock and end of line of the Samsung Express, and that if I wanted a different phone, I could go through the process again on their website, selecting a different phone.

Now, I'm a little miffed that they cancelled the order with what's essentially a copy paste email, with no apology or anything (a small discount or special offer to apologize for their mistake would've been nice). Instead, I basically got told to shove it. I'm also annoyed that they haven't corrected their error - the phone is still viewable on their website, and available to add to my shopping cart.

Does anybody know of any similar deals with a different company? I don't want to spend any more than $30/month. I'm really keen to have a Samsung phone, preferably the Express.

Vodafone has on their website a different one called Samsung GALAXY Ace 3 4G available on the same deal, but from what I've read it seems to be not as good as the Express.

buy your phone outright and get a cheap mobile plans from vaya/telechoice.

    • Pretty much this. I got the nexus 4 for 249. Then current good plans are $10 rebel telechoice for light users and $18 vaya plan for medium users. Either way its more flexible and cheaper than a phone + contract.

    • Thank you :) The $10 Telechoice is looking pretty good.

None of the mid-end Samsungs are worth getting because they're usually packing inferior CPU's and displays to a lot of similarly priced competition. There are a lot of high end phones you can buy in the mid $200s and low $300 budgets which outperform Samsung's midlevel offerings.

Note both reviews for the devices mentioned the lag UI.

Consider a Moto G for $240 to $280, best bang for buck device you can buy locally with no bloat whatsoever. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/133250

If you must have a Samsung device, increase your budget and get either a S3, S4 or a Note 2. If you are budget conscious, explore options from LG Nexus 4 or 5, Moto G or a Huawei G5xx series.

  • It's much better to have Sony Xperia Z for the same price in Vodafone ($30 plan) instead of Galaxy Express.

You can find the spec in GSMArena
