$1 Micro USB Cable Includes Shipping from Kogan

80

Kogan is having their $5 micro usb cable for sale at $1. If this is an actual sale then the cable is worth it otherwise it is probably a scam as we all know $1 cables are not worth it.

I bought two as nobody posted their experience with this cable personally. I will keep you guys updated once I receive them and use them.

This time shipping is 3-4 weeks so a lot more reasonable.

  • Bought these cables the last time they were on specials… Cheap quality and performance. My phone (g2) detects it as a slow charging cable and only sometimes I can see the folders on my PC for data transfer.

    • Same here. I had a couple of these cheap cables. They were all rubbish.

    • So not 26awg or above… =(

  • Where can I get good micro usb cables? Not too expensive.

Do Monster make micro USB cables? I'd trust them.

      /end sarcasm

Don't jest. I have a monster USB cable here, and every time I use it to transfer audio files from one device to another the expressive nuances are noticeably enhanced.

But more than that, this cable clearly has some undocumented power conditioning properties that have resulted in a cleaner charge for all my phones and tablets. The subsequent improvement in the smoothness of the Li-Ion discharge curves have really brought everything about these devices into perfect balance. With music playback in particular, the bass is tighter, the midrange is richer and fuller, and the treble is wonderfully airy with much more breath. All in all I'm hearing and seeing things I've never heard or seen before. Even on Youtube the entire soundstage has opened right up, and HD video is that much more enjoyable. And most astoundingly, even the most technical and verbose Wikipedia articles are easier to read and understand!

    • Come to think of it maybe Micro USB is bad engineering and can't be saved. Apple think so.

      • Except when you need to plug in your Apple TV to your computer…

      Tikbro.
      EBay.

      • I'm hoping these are as good as people make them out to be - I'm waiting on them to arrive from ordering last week.

OP - wouldnt touch a cheap nasty micro usb cable again. Too much frustration with them!

    They're $1 on ebay

and if shipping form kogan is 3-4 weeks, special kogan price is on par with anything you'll get from ebay any other day.

  • If a 3-4 week shipping time is 'a lot more reasonable', how long is considered poor?

Very poor quality cables, do not buy

  • Every time I bought something cheaper from Kogan is always quality compromised.

  • came across this post (thanks op) while looking for a new micro usb cable for a htc one x. useful feedback. will buy a cable off ebay instead, item is marked as "genuine". $5.. but save some time hopefully!

  • OK, my cables arrived a few days ago. Both work no differently to the stock cable when plugged into the USB port. Charging speed is the same. For $1, these cables are worth it. I've bought other cables for about $1.50 and they charge at only half the speed in USB port.

However, when I plug it into a charger in a power socket….it doesn't seem to work on my Galaxy S3. Charges for like a second and instantly stops charging, cycle repeats every minute or so. It works just fine on my girlfriend's HTC One though…. Will install a battery monitoring program on her device to check what speed it charges at.
