Ozito Twin Cutter and Multitool Combo $98 Bunnings ACT

40

Came across this last night and thought it was a good price.

Individually, they're $172… essentially you're getting the multi-tool for $1, if you wanted to get the twin cutter OR a Twin Cutter for $22 if you wanted the multi tool

Here are the links to the individual products:
Multi tool $75 http://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-250w-corded-multi-function-…
Twin Cutter $97 (you can see this one in the photo at that price) http://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-1200w-125mm-corded-twin-cut…

Now I'm dubious about Ozito quality, and it seems the Twin Cutter is pretty rubbish according to product review…

BUT Choice reviewed the multi tools this month, and for the 'infrequent odd job, the ozito is great value for money'.

I usually buy Makita or Bosch (blue), but thought I'd give both a go to see what all the fuss is. Hopefully they break within 3 years and I get a refund to buy a better quality one of either/both if I like them.

  • last time they did this you could buy the tools separately (multitool was $29 i think, twin cutter $69). you could try scanning first to see if it is still the case

i used the twin cutter, admittedly for a short time, and it sliced through some old steel water pipe with ease. much easier and safer than using an angle grinder

Im staying clear of this Ozito brand, I have been through 3 Ozito Line Trimmers as the all fed the cord out too quickly it was a joke, couldn't even finish my lawn which is small.

Not sure how other items are in this brand but for me its a no go

Almost sounds like user error to me…
Are you sure you had the cord feed set correctly?

Haven't had a problem with any of the 3 Ozito items I own.
14V Cordless drill owned for 8 years - treated like crap, but still doing the job on original pair of batteries.
Corded Hedge Trimmer - owned for 2 years, treated like crap, still does the job
Multitool - bought last year for $29 as per mattgal above used hard to sand my colonial windows for about 10 hours over a few days.. Did the job and no problems so far.

      • I have a Ozito Line timmers and it runs fine.

        • I have the following Ozito products
          1. Lawn mower corded … run fine
          2. Line trimmer corded … run fine
          3. 14.4V cordless drill and multi-tool combo … such a reliable workhorse. because of that, I was hesitated and didn't buy the black&decker combo yesterday!

    • fed the cord out too quickly

Are they supposed to be automatic? The ones I use, you need to push the base in to feed more line. (hit it on the ground)
Must be an assembly fault, e.g. no spring.

I have a ozito branded "dremel" and Jigsaw. The jigsaw. Both do as they are intended. I am disappointed with the dremel, but the jigsaw. No complaints. Seems to be a bit hit and miss in my experience. Now I just stuck with name brand and don't buy power tools from bunnings.

even makita and other name brands they sell, its generally the lower spec "retail" products.

If you want to buy a good tool, and want it to last. Go to a tool shop.

That said for rare to occasional use, Bunnings spec is fine.

  • Is this store specific or at all Bunnings?

  • Our 2 cents. We have Ozito. Electric Staple gun. Great. Twin Blade cutter. Cuts gal roofing like butter. Also great.
