15 minutes and still cant think of a good reason to spend $1699 for a pair of earphones…unless they can cook and clean for me. Can they?

    • +2

did you consider the brag value?

    • +2

Put very simply, Some people spend $2000 on a TV and a lot of people find it quite reasonable.

Some people like to spend as much on their ears as they do on their eyes.

I wouldn't personally spend this much on a set of IEMS, but I wouldn't spend this much on a TV either.

    • These are top of the range custom IEMs, they're used singers and rockstars when on tour (as well as enthusiasts).

Put me down for 10 of them… I need to eBay them….

    Is this an (OZ)BARGAIN????

  • Jerry Harvey and Gerry Harvey one and the same?

    • +3

Jerry Harvey mate, innovation over imitation

  • Alright, I'll be the one to say it… Hi Rep! Just to outline the bargain, what would be the regular price of these be if they weren't on sale?

    • +4

from their website, $1749 so you're saving $50

      http://acustoms.com.au/home/jh-audio/

It's markedly cheaper than buying direct through JH Audio which charges $1599USD for the base model, not including impressions/shipping. PLUS you'd have to pay tax to get it into australia as its over $1000AUD.

So this being a bargain is relative to each individual.

    • +1

Direct non incl. of impressions, shipping, tax etc. etc. http://www.jhaudio.com/content/sirens-roxanne - 1,599.00 USD = 1,779.20 AUD

Elsewhere in aus at other retailers - $1,949 and $1,999.

12 drivers per ear, tuned to your ear, custom fitted, custom artwork, first variable bass control IEM cable.

Looks like they were cheaper on Jaben…and Jaben normally ain't cheap. http://www.jaben.com.au/collections/jh-audio/products/jh-aud…

    • +1

That is a universal, not a custom Roxanne. Universals are a couple of hundy cheaper.

      • That they are. The description / images are remarkably similar but if these include custom moulds then that warrants a higher price I guess - didn't notice that.

  • HahahahAhaha…..

    Goddamnn

I have a pair of these and it sounds like the Biebs is singing personally into your ear. Why go overseas for his concert when you can do this?

    • biebs can sing?? I heard he had a new career… :-)

  • Hey rep, on your page here, http://acustoms.com.au/home/audiologist/
is that peter russell at ihear parramatta? that office looks familiar!

    • That's him. Parramatta office. Those guys are the best at what they do. Anyone in Sydney who needs to get impressions, we always recommend them. They are top notch blokes.

  • What the actual f**k!?!? $1699. Well god damn these must be good.

  • Hey rep, I've previously gotten impressions for UM customs with you guys. Will I have to get impressions done again if I get these?

    • Those ear impressions would have been disposed of after they have taken a 3D print of your impressions - so UMlab would still have them, if you planned on getting another set of UMs. But unfortunately the ear impressions can't be passed around from manufactory to manufactory. In short, you would need another set of impressions taken. Hope this helps

  • any audiologists you would recommend in melbourne?

    • Absolutely, we have our recommended guys, pros in their field. MAC in the CBD of Melbourne - http://melbourneaudiologycentre.com.au/. Make sure you get in touch with us, so we can provide you with instructions for you and your audiologist.

LOL sorry rep, wrong crowd. Do not expect to offload $1700 CIEM's on OZB.
Tha said if you can get offer a good deal on something more affordable like 1964 V6 or UM Merlin's we may be listening.

    • Shrug. Maybe. I spent $870 on UM miracles due to ozbargain.

If I bought the same from the store now it would be about $1250. 20% off or so + some free cables.

      • do you like them?

        • +3

Yes. My jaw actually dropped when I first put them in. But I will say a few things:

          1) I jumped from hifiman re0's and vsonics up to this, which is a huge jump
          2) You get very accustomed to sound of any kind. So I could downgrade and still be happy after adjusting again.
          3) I used to break headphones every 9 months or so. These have a cable that can be replaced, it used to cost $55 from memory. That helped me justify the purchase. Only had one cable failure in 2-3 years now.
          4) I'm not an audiophile, I just didn't like the idea of buying $250 headphones, then $450 headphones, then $1000 headphones. So I 'saved myself' some cash by jumping to the top.
          5) I like a very neutral sound signature

PS: You can apply to get the UM's on loan from UM Australia to test them. There's a $500 refundable deposit. They come with universal ear moulds rather than customs, so they will sound a little duller. Request them soon as the wait to get them is very very long (6 months I think).

  • WTF I feel inadequate for only having UM miracles :(

  • +3

How do these compare to my logitech ultimate ears?

    • Jerry Harvey who designed all the technology inside Ultimate Ears customs. Which is now quite old. Well this (the Roxanne) is his newest monitor. I don't think the UE's are able to have a say at comparing.

  • +2

I don't think I've spent this amount combined on audio equipment in my life.

I'll be honest, all I've ever spent is $60 on second hand matsui complete system (amp,cd player, twin tape deck and speakers) in perfect condition. sold it last year on ebay in parts for $185 all up.

  • I'll buy the whole range of MEELEC stuff 10 times over, then probably make some more dosh reselling them to the tightest of Ozbargain for a 20% profit!!!!

although i have heard from mates who are in pro bands that they use $3K+ IEMS
