Why not post some prices for comparison … hard to be competitive if we cant quantify …

  • Just another sale… Where's the deal?

  • There are no prices as all pianos prices are negotiable. Hence you often see big discounts, RRP is inflated to make you feel good that you got a good deal.

  • I'm in search for a Yamaha U3.
Anyone know the best price? I live in SA.

you know its going to be expensive sale or no sale when there's no price advertised. often places that sell things that don't turn over often have agreements with the supplier not to cannibalise the brand, (keeping the price a secret until you've lured the buyer in), a bit like price collusion with other retailers, good and bad.

  • What do people look for when buying a piano? Is there much difference between pianos besides the brand, type and build? Do people just buy one that looks nice?

    • +1

      the sound.

Is there much difference between pianos besides the brand, type and build?

Yes. For accoustic pianos, you can't go wrong with Yamaha or Kawai. Every piano (even for the same brand/model) is different, so as @mongballs is right in that the sound is important.

Do people just buy one that looks nice?

I never understand that. It's rather expensive to just be furniture :)

      • I should have been clearer. What I meant was if there is not much difference, do people prioritize the aesthetics of the piano instead? I guess not since sound appears to be most significant. Though for a newbie I would think that the sound would be hard to differentiate between the various pianos? I've been learning on keyboard with limited keys, and have always wanted to purchase a piano to play on.

Anyway, thank you both for your input.

  • This is a Yamaha National promotion and not limited to one store.
