It's been like this forever, hasn't it? I think some stores ask for ID now to confirm it really is your birthday.

    • I dunno I looked through the past subway deals and I didn't see it.

      • This was what I could find. It's mentioned once in a while in the forums. I guess it's a good reminder for user's who haven't heard of it.

      Yep. Not a deal.

  • +1

you need to Add birthday to title. Also they all require ID.

    • +1

They don't require ID in their terms. Some stores will ask for it, though many don't.

  • +1

some stores ask for ID and some don't. depends on the manager and how much they stick to the t&c's

  • See birthday deals wiki: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/list_of_birthday_deals

Free to repost however longer than 6 months

    • Can we ask for the rule to be changed to be more than 6 months? What do OzBargainers think?

      • +1

Good idea as birthday comes once in 12 months..

      • Just have a system bot auto-post the link to the to wiki every 6 months for these ongoing offers or when people sign up give them a screen with the ongoing deals wiki links to make them aware of them ;-)

        • +1

Add a reminder to your calendar to review the birthday wiki page 1 month before your birthday(s) :-)

        • My suggestion was so new OzB users become aware of the wiki/already known offers in the first place.

    • I hate those deals as my birthday is on Xmas day… I never get the freebie as the shops are generally close on the day :(

not to mention one present a year from others.

      • Happy birthday Jesus

      • you can actually redeem the free sub+drink a few days before and after you birthday. baskin robbins and salsas also allow you to redeem 10 days and 2 days before/after respectively.

  • My experience is it's not worth being made to feel like a thief on your B'day by the power mad sandwich hand who may or may not honor this deal. I was knocked back because they hadn't heard of it. Also knocked back on other offers because full name as per license not printed on offer for example John instead of Johnathon.
Won't go near them for the bad memories now.

Are you one of those people who tell them when you're ordering that it's a freebie?
The way to do it is, you order your sub, & then when you get to the end & they say that'll be whatever $'s, you turn around & show them the offer.
If they want to refuse it, then they have a fully made sub that no-one is going to pay for…..because you just walk away!!! They can't make you pay for it because they're deciding to refuse to accept a legitimate offer!

Your way is better, will adjust my approach.

  • Is it worthwhile to give your birthday away for a few dollars a year?

    • +1

i get quite a lot of free food/drink/dessert on my birthday thanks to many of those birthday deals. so yeah, definitely "worthwhile" for me.

  • i don't know what happened but in my case they never sent me an email offer/voucher for the birthday. i always got email for any other offers though. been registered for 2 years now.

    • +2

They don't actually email the voucher, you get an email that says…
"Simply use the link below to login to your Subway Eat Fresh Club account and activate your offer."
      http://www.subway.com.au/eatfreshclub/

The link is not a special link for the offer, just a general link to the Eat Fresh Club.
Did you log into your Eat Fresh account around your birthday to see if it was there. Email could have been missed.

      • i never log in.

but i always got all of their email offers…. except for the bday one (no email offer aound my bday time).

        grrrrr

  • Goodie

  • Just a heads up, the Strathdale, Victoria shop claims that they only honour the offer on the day of your birthday. This may cause an issue as once you activate the offer on the website it is only valid for 12 hours. I was in 2 days before my birthday and they said they would honour it this time but that next year I should activate it and come in on my actual birthday.

    • +1

yeah i've been told that as well and i get the email 3 days before my birthday, so obviously it's valid from the moment you activate the offer. it even says in the same email that the birthday offer was available until 3 days after my birthday.

haven't been rejected yet; they normally just grumble amongst themselves and grudgingly hand over the sub.

  • What if your too young to have a ID

  • Subway workers seem pretty nice

    • did you really make an account just to say that?

  • Just got two free lunches in a row because of this deal. Store didn't ask for ID.
