  • Nice… 1.2m extension lead with a master switch you can put in easy reach.

    • +1

i thought that's what a normal switched power board did

      • if you can reach it.
sounds like you have your Powerboard sitting next to your Big Screen TV.

and not all slim powerboards have switches

        • +2

Yeah, but if you wanted a powerboard to switch, you could buy one..

          That's the point. It's like $12 for a 4 outlet switched powerboard.

I like the idea of this product, but at the price point, I'm not really sure it is much better than switched powerboards.

        • The facility offered by the T design and the serious quality of the switch and other components make these quite a different proposition to even a supposed-quality switched powerboard.

For example, I bought these from a previous OzB deal and would have no hesitation in using one to remotely switch a 2400 watt heater.

I was silly enough to plug a 2000 watt heater into a switched Arlec powerboard. Only a few watts being drawn from the other three sockets. Shouldn't have happened but partially melted/seized switch resulted.

Decided (with close monitoring) to repeat the exercise in another socket - same thing happened. Maybe Arlec thinks that a 10Amp total rating only applies if current drawn is evenly spread across all four outlets…?

  • Tried to add 4x Black EcoSwitch. Coupon code 'ozbmar14only3' didn't work for me.

    • Just figured out how to read. NVM (code works).
  • We are still uncomfortably overstocked

Says a lot about the product.

    • Beat me to it.

    • Pmupsinep, irrespective of your beef/spat with the rep in the first deal I linked above, regarding the way these were/are being marketed, product itself is excellent and 4 for $40 delivered - especially - remains a great deal, regardless of how stacked to the rafters their warehouse might be.

      • +1

Initially i was very sceptical of this product, however i bought some last time around and i have 3 applications where this has been useful.
Build qulity is excellent, double pole switching and you couldnt make one for the price these are selling for.

        • Indeed.

      • No need to trawl through previous posts to make irrelevant links. It's either a product with limited usefulness, or price is too high.

        • I understand that you'd prefer people not see your hissy-fit in that prior deal thread.

    • Apparently both Ford and Holden have the same issue of being "overstocked" or more the point, not enough people are buying their products either.

      • So you're saying Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores are super useful vehicles with excellent build quality, and there are no cheaper alternatives?

  • Shipping kills it for me :(

    • It's out of reach for me too, so I added 4 and used coupon ozbmar14only2 to make it $44. Easier reach!

      • Ummmm??? QTY 4 are FREE POST….only $40 shipped.

        • I only need 1 :)

        • I think in the context of shelling out for four to get the best price, at $10 each they would make for thoughtful gifts.

Maybe you can give one to pmupsinep, so that he can at least gain a sense of the actual utility and quality of these things…
