To be honest, it looks like it was built in the 90's..

That's the Big Bertha driver, not the Big Bertha Alpha.

  • Pretty reasonable price on the Nike Covert, too. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    • Nike Covert drivers are very cheap on ebay.

      • They are and have been for sometime, though only by $50-$70 seemingly on these prices (or less: a quick check this morning shows new, mens, right-handed VRS Covert's for $130+$50 PH from the US as the cheapest), which isn't enough of a 'bargain'. I'm not a huge fan of buying drivers off eBay. Steel-shafted irons, wedges and putters I don't mind so much (if you know what you're looking for already), but drivers with their propensity for weak faces that cave in and lousy, often cheap versions of well-known shafts I'm not as trusting of.

But I guess that is just perception based on bad proxy experiences in the past with golf buddies. In any event, I've been waiting on new prices of the Covert's to hit $199 for Aussie stock, then I'll upgrade my trusty Cobra at long last!

      • But are the ones on eBay genuine or fake…?

        • The eternal question! Many don't come with the wrench needed to make adjustments, too, which is bloody frustrating.

I bought mine direct from America and paid $ 336 landed..

Australian shops can not compete that is why they are closing all the time.. But not the australian shops fault it is the big brands setting huge wholesale prices so they can run offices out here and fancy cars.

Really sad stuff as I know a lot of ex golf shop guys unemployed because golf is really all they know..

    • Yeah it's a funny thing. It's hard to beat decent advice from a good, local golf pro, ideally while swinging your clubs/the clubs you intend to buy, but it's hard to reconcile that when the clubs are often so much cheaper to buy online - even from the US as you describe.

Or indeed, many clubs are so cheap and so similar to each other in execution (design maybe not so much), that for the average Sunday hacker they can just take a punt on whatever colour/brand name/set suits their fancy off eBay. It's not much to lose doing so these days. It can be a bit different if you're actively chasing a lower handicap weekend to weekend, I guess.

    • which online shopping site did you use?

Most i have found either does not ship to AUS or has a really high shipping fee
