You can get a whole roast chicken at Woolies or Coles for this price every day
But they don't taste anywhere near as good as red rooster chooks.
The Peri Peri chicken at Woolies beats the Red Rooster one hands down and costs $9.45 also the Greek Garlic and Lemon one is also good.

Yep nice and cheap compared to say a dinner of steaks that end up like $30 for 1 dinner and that's just for the steaks

Google their name for tonnes of reviews and photos of their deliciousness.
Their first restaurant is in Granville right opposite the train station. There's also one in Punchbowl and now Blacktown too.
Their garlic sauce makes me weak at the knees. I'd eat it on everything if I could. Their chicken in my experience has been crisp and beautifully charred on the outside, while remaining juicy and fleshy on the inside.

In mine, the chicken has beautifully been turned into a piece of charcoal. Was not juicy at all haha.
I've heard it varies from store to store thoughI went there while I lived in Sydney. Very god chicken over there.

Bought one yesterday. You are right about the plate is in fact a tea cup saucer, the whole chicken is tiny. It is about 1/3 of a whole chicken from Woolies or Coles and my 6 years old son can eat half of it without any problem.
Nothing beats the $6 "happy hour" roast chickens from my local IGA.
This is a decent price for Red Rooster though. It's a shame my local Red Rooster is run by 15 year old cretins with no concept of how to cook anything without drying it out.
Yep- bought one of the RR $9.95 chooks on Friday night. They had definately set the dial to "dry and stringy".

My preference ATM is Coles Lilydale chickens. $12 and all natural + stuffing is great!

I have never had a bad one from IGA either. Midland IGA (WA) were my favourites, but that doesn't help you of course.

Not available at Red Rooster Ascot Vale, they refused to sell it at that price as it was not a coupon and it was not anywhere on their website

10 minutes ago - Deer Park Vic also would not honor the promotional price. Also copped a lecture about how they are franchised and do not have to participate and they had not received any information about the promotion.
