Hi Guys

Long time user, first post. Just received a letter from foxtel saying that if i sign up now i get 15 months free IQ + Free install on a 12 month plan. Obviously to use the extra months you would have to continue with them :)

No Coupon Code necessary, just ring 1300 551 038 within the next 10 days and tell them you have this letter. I will upload the letter tomm.

  • man. pretty soon they'll be giving it away!

  • Any ideas how long do they want us to stay after that 15 months? I guess another 5 years? just a guess hehe

Edit: Aw, it seems like only free IQ and installation, not the normal one :(

Awesome. Looks like I'll just disconnect my current Foxtel and reconnect to this. The call centre staff are so stupid sometimes.

"Can I take up this offer without disconnecting, it'll save you removing my box and having to reconnect it again"
"sorry sir we can not do that. You need to cancel and re subscribe to take up this offer"

    • I claimed the 12 month free IQ offer 1 month ago, upgrading from standard digital (albeit I've had standard digital/analogue for 7 years).
The guy who I spoke to on the phone was really helpful and polite, and said that he didn't have the power to do it (just upgrade me from my existing digital to IQ), so put me through to the 'disconnection' team. They said that it was fine, no need for them to disconnect me, and they just sent someone out to do the upgrade for me a few days later.
God IQ is awesome. I never watch anything that's actually on any more, just tape a dozen shows, and come back to watch whatever I want.
Also they somehow bungled it so that I've got the movie channels for free, and am only being charged for the standard package, plus the other channels (excluding movies).

      • When I got this same deal when it was offered in November last year I was also given free My Movie Network for 2 weeks when I first got connected. Maybe that's the standard thing.

  • so essentially you pay for your foxtel but you get the extra optional IQ for free? how much would you be out of pocket by after 12 months? just curious

Another foxtel SCAM.. Pay for 12 months premium foxtel and save $120 to get free Foxtel PVR!!!

    No thanks.

Cable tv has be to be biggest rip off around.

    Ads, repeats, bad content, repeats…

Only thing it might be good for is sport.. but now they have most stuff free 2 air anyway.

    From site.
""FREE* FOXTEL iQ for 12 months when you sign up to Premium Value on a 12 month direct debit plan. That’s a saving of $120!""

    NEG from me.

Save your money for an overseas holiday.

    • You can switch to the basic plan straight away after joining… There's no need to stay on the premium plan…

      Agree!

As other people have mentioned, you have this wrong. There is no need to stay on the premium plan. So if any one is signing up to foxtel, this is a fgood deal.

    no point to foxtel,
especially with all the free to air HD channels now.
    Biggest rip off as well.

    • As I look through the FTA TV guide right now, I can watch an infomercial, some show called Spyforce or some more home shopping.

If people want to pay a few dollars a day to have a huge choice of TV channels and the ability to fast forward commercials, thats up to them.

Stupid neg, and the guy above.

    • I do agree with the fact that foxtel's HD structure is APPALLING. I'm thinking of disconnecting my foxtel for this reason alone.

  • "Min. cost $521 for 12 months. New standard metro install. Not available to all homes."
A lot of money for a lot of ads, imo.

Talking about rip off… what do you think about the new "free-to-air" channels then? That is the biggest marketing gag ever! "15 new channels" my butt. I seriously considered NOT to take foxtel because of that - until I did a google search on it and read all the media articles about the reasons for the new free to air channels and what a scam it is. Seems to be nothing more than a great marketing stunt to sell the digital switch over. Most channels will continue to broadcast pretty much the same program on both their channels, except a few hours where they show old staff from their archives. Guess if you're a sports lover you'll enjoy 10's new channel "one", otherwise seriously give foxtel a go. Of course it sucks that they started showing ads now too but at least you've got bigger choice. And the price came down a lot from what it used to be. If you're still after other options have a look into selectv. They have pretty much the same channels as foxtel but tailor them differently.

    • 'except a few hours where they show old staff from their archives.'

      not true.

I quite enjoy ABC2's music vids and concerts on Sundays. SBS Two is good 'cos it will provide more movies. 7HD + 9HD often play movies during the day too not necessarily from the 'archives'.

Anyway, does it really matter as long as you get variety in viewing?

  • We love our Foxtel IQ and record plenty of shows for the whole family and watch them when it suits us +1

  • Who needs foxtel and FTA when you have the INTERNET :D

seriously though, don't vote neg just because you don't want the product… that's just stupid.

  • hi,
My relos want to get iq….so…
any chance of upping that letter?
    adam

    • Hey Adam, you don't need any letter, just call 131999 and ask for the deal.

BTW - if you have foxtel, make sure you get them to say you referred them as you will get either a $50 credit or a gift ;-)
