  • Is there much difference between these and a regular Galaxy S4 ? (aside from the water proof features etc)

Camera and screen. Otherwise, basically the same unit.

I've owned one for about 5 months. The screen drains the battery like crazy. This is because its a TFT screen, not a AMOLED screen like the normal S4. Although that's the case, the colours do look a lot more rich and vibrant, and less artificial.

also an easy accessible flash light by holding one of the buttons without turning it on i think?

        • You're meant to hold the volume up button for the light. Doesn't work all the time. Sometimes you have to hit the power button to turn the screen on then off then hold the volume up button for the light to turn on. Personally I prefer my HTC one over the S4 active.

  • bought one from kogan about a month back for $429 plus delivery (another $25 or so I think). Kogan delivery was slow, as you'd expect with o/s sourced stock - mine looks to have come from Israel given some of the bloatware. Nice phone for a clumsy fellow like me.

    This or nexus 5?

    • Not this. Mine was faulty and after 6 weeks Samsung tried to laughably tell me that water damage wasn't covered under their warranty.

      • well technically water damage shouldnt be covered - all water resistance is rated for time/depth.

They have no idea how long/deep you left it underwater for? (eg. out of spec)
        Its a problem I know….

        • Not a good enough reason to deny warranty unless they can prove it however. In my case it was submerged for about 30 seconds in 10cm of water. They only organised a refund when I asked them if they were willing to explain themselves to a magistrate.
