I purchased this from the staff special dse had for $499. Its a great TV.

Ignore anyone here that complains about resolution or anything.

It looks good for Digital TV, and it looks great when connected to my laptop.

I can't think of a reason why you would spend $500 more for a little more image quality, if any.

    • +1

Target had a Full HD panel for $200 more the other week

      • +3

32" TV will be fine at 720p

  • +1

Bargain, I saw one on display and these AREN'T bad at all.

  • +2

There's not much point with 1080p on a 32"er unless you're sitting right up next to it or trying to use with a monitor, so it's exactly as good as is necessary.

Got HDMI and a built in HD Tuner, which are all the features you'd want.

    Good value.

  • +2

Awesome price, would go well with a 360 in a bedroom. Hmm..

Wasn't all that long ago a HDTV receiver cost $499 on its own. Now you get a 32" HDTV for that price.

  • what sort of brand is this one VIVO? I never heard of it. Did a search on google, cannot find the company website as well.

  • +2

This is an awesome price for a HD LCD TV.

    The competition is heating up..

  • +3

Yep I saw this today at DSE (it was sitting right next to a Full HD 32" Sony for $1500 and from 2-3 metres away I swear the picture quality was identical)

Unfortunately no stores have any in stock except for display models and there is no extra discount for the display models. So I paid a 10% deposit and the guy said they will be expecting stock in about 2 weeks time and guaranteed that I would get the discounted price.

    • +1

How do you know that no stores have stock apart from display? According to their site, there are more than 2 in some stores around the country.

Or did you mean no stores near you?

      • +1

Well that is what the manager told me. He said that 1 store in NSW had 2 in stock which includes 1 display model and he said all other stores in NSW had either 1 in stock (display) or none. I have no idea about other states.

  • +1

    Any idea of warranty?

  • +1
  • na not true my Local store said they are going to have 60 of them on sale and also Jessica Mauboy will be appearing there from 1pm-2pm for autograph signings btw this is in Macarthur square :D if any1s a fan of her or wants one of those 60 LCD tv's come on down lol better be quick they will go fast

  • +1

1 year warranty, and apparently Auburn/Lidcombe are out of stock. Either way, they allow you to get a pre-order down for deposit so it might not be a bad idea.

  • it was advertised at $799 in the catalogue i just saw (WA)?

  • +1

Thats for the Full HD model.

    http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4a3c7578006295d…

I would definitely save the $300 as full HD won't make much difference at 32".

  • +1

Just got one at the Darwin store. They didnt have any on display, but they got us one from the store room. It gives a great picture, very happy with it.
Extra 2 yr warranty was about $80, but we didnt get it.

  • The specs say: "PC Connection x 1"

Is that the HDMI port or something different?

    • +1

I believe it may be VGA, if you're lucky it may have DVI.

  • +1

    VGA I can confirm.

  • -1

So a VGA port, does it come with a VGA cable.
Also sorry to be a pest but could you tell me where exactly the HDMI port is located? I should have checked when I was at the store.

  • It won't come with a VGA cable.

  • +1

Just some additional information, according to the sales man at DSE, it is designed in Italy and manufactured in China. Just bought one.

  • -1

Can any1 tell me if the HDMI port is on the back or the side or the front? And if on the side then which side? Its kinda important as my HDMI cable is only 2m long.

    • +1

      It's on the back

  • Anyone order one online?

    • Yes. I've order one online.
And as far as I can see, it seems to be free shipping.

      • Free shipping would be too good to be true.

        From the T&C

"To qualify for Free Freight your total order value must exceed $149, your delivery address needs to be within Australia and your order cannot include televisions and BH Fitness Products."

        • +1

I thought they will charge me shipping (which is $12.50 AUS wide for orders less than $500 I believe) until I receive this e-mail:

It maybe an error due to their website or their processing system. Either way, $499 + $12.50 is a bargain for me.

      • Yeah trying to figure out if they will charge shipping later. Their system sucks

    Thanks elitebhy.

Picked up the display unit for $449. Highly recommend this TV. Has digital and analogue tuners and will do 1080P. Box states it is a LG panel.

    • The maximum resolution for this TV is 1366 x 768, which means it can do 720p, but not 1080p is I'm not mistaken.

Someone who already have this TV maybe able to clear this up?

    • mine states 'Sharp Panel', no chance you got the demo Full High Def, from Dick Smith mistake?

got mine on saturday from WA.

      • What's the model number that you got and does it have a built in HD tuner by an chance?

    • Definitely LG panel. Must be a different model to this one. Apologies for the confusion. This was the one I thought I purchased though.

  • +1

It will take a 1080p signal but downscale it. It won't display anything actually at 1080p cause it doesn't have that many pixels.

  • Has anyone ordered this online or any idea of any stock in VIC? Just curious whether the web sales is gonna restock or not. My order is pending as the online status is changed to retail stores only.

    • +1

I've called them today, they said NSW stock is expected by Friday and VIC will be next Tuesday or Wednesday.

They have confirmed the shipping is $12.50

  • +1

Yeah just got my online confirmation. Had to send my ID to them!, they really need to process online payments better.

They said more stock coming in 24th.

  • -1

Its rediculous that when they put this sale on they had almost no stock except for maybe 1 or 2 stores. I must have called a dozen DSE stores within a 50km radius of where I live in Sydney and not a single 1 had any stock and that was on Friday before the sale even officially began.

    • I'm pretty sure the sale began on the Thursday. At the very least it was listed on the website before the weekend.

    • The store i was in had over 30 in stock and sold in the first 48 hours, alot of the staff had snapped them up early. It was a bit stupid that they didnt order more in early, there was over a month wait of them from distribution, They had 3 orders pending, one lot of 150 another for 3500 and another for 2500

  • Just got an update from DSE, back ordered until 20/07/09!!!!!!

    • Yeap, i can confirm that too.
Yesterday they told me was going to be 24th, now I've just checked my e-mail and it said back ordered until 20/07/09

  • Can anyone confirm which panel this has? LG or Sharp? And does it have a HD Tuner. It mentions Built in Tuner. Not sure what this means.

  • Has any1 tried connecting this to a computer?
Also I am wondering about this "Built-in Tuner" as it does not say HD Tuner in the specs…

  • The High Definition has a SANYO screen, and the Full High Def has an LG Screen. Very good value for money at the moment, I can get the FULL HD for $699

  • where can you get the Full HD for $699?
    Any info on the tuner?

  • Just got an update on the back order.
I got an e-mail on 16th July said that the TV on back order and suppose to arrive on the 20th (yesterday). No e-mail or phone calls yesterday on the status so I called DSE today and ask.

The customer service on the other side of the phone informed me that the TV is still on back order and will not be arriving until the 1st of the 2nd week of August…….. :(

Oh well, I guess I can't complain too much as the price of that TV is extreme low. Hopefully it will not be on back order again after 2nd week of August.

  • Absolutely ridiculous. DSE have to be the biggest jokers out of all the retailers in Australia.

  • Their online division is an absolute JOKE! Pushed back another 2 weeks.

  • Another delay, got an email now pushed the delivery date to 14th August!!

    • Same. How f'ing annoying is it.

  • Back up to $699 now and In-Store Only.

Judy receive this in my email:

    Thank you for your enquiry

    Dear Xxxxxx

We refer to your recent online purchase of a GE6436 VIVO 81cm HD LCD TV VSLH32E7B from our Dick Smith website. Unfortunately we have been informed by our supplier that new stocks of this item are not expected until 14/08/2009

We understand the inconvenience this causes and will dispatch this item and your bonus power board and free freight immediately upon its receipt. Should you need to discuss your order please contact our Call Centre on 1300 366 644.

Please have your customer number xxxxxxx ready at the time of your call

Sorry for the inconvenience and please advise if I can be any further help
    - End of email -

so looks like they are expecting the delivery on 14th as I stated in my last post, but they have throw in free freight and a power board (which both I have not asked for), they simply offered as you can see in the above email. So that's a good will on their end. Has anyone got the similar mail?

    • +2

Yeah got that. Good move to keep us happy in my books.

  • I ordered one in store but had to cancel it and get my deposit back because I'm moving and couldn't wait for them any longer to get it in. I should of ordered it online instead :( Bloody DSE!

  • Ive got the e-mail and I've told them to go #### **********. Will never be dealing with DSE again… 2 months waiting for an item is beyond ridiculous. I bought a Hisense 42" LCD for $1200 which is perfect for what I need and didn't have to wait more than 1 day for it to be delivered by JBHF

    Mod - edited offensive language

  • Well, here comes more waiting…. 18 August 2009 is what it said in the email. Started to think they actually mistyped, should be 18 August 2010 more likely :p

oh well, I guess I'll keep waiting as I am not in hurry to get the 32".

  • 20th of August now…..what's that…..the 10th delay? unbelievable.

  • I have just got an emaill today with a Star Track Expreas carrier consignment number. Checked on their website it said it has been dispatched from Sydney on 21/08/2009 (which is today), ETA date of delivery to Melbourne on 24/08/09. So looks like on it's way guys :)

Also included in the order is a 8-way power board, whch has a status of processing and I think it will be arriving at the same day as the TV.

I hope everyone who had ordered has got their updates, if not I suppose you can call DSE and check.

  • +2

After over 2 months of waiting and getting mucked around you should be getting more than a free power board IMO

  • Yeah, I wish that's possible. Not to be defending for DSE, but if the manufacture does not provide the stock, I doubt there is anything that a reseller can do apart from waiting for a delivery from the manufacture. It would be very kind of them if they send us the Full HD Vivo but given the price differnce, I am just dreaming hahahha.

I guess I wasn't too worries abt this order like the others did as this is a 2nd TV for me and I really don't need it in hurry, while 2 months wait it is very long, but at the end, it doesn't really make too much of a difference for me waiting 1 months or 2 months.

The SURGE INTERCEPTOR 8-Way Board is $99.95 retail on DSE webite and the free delivery of $14.95, brings the total of this TV down to $385.05 which to me it's a bargain for a 2nd TV if you ask me.

  • LOL at the DSE retail price of that surge board. So if they gave you a monster cable with a retail sticker of $300 then you would say that it brings the total of this TV down to $200?? Who cares what the sticker price they put on something is, there is no way that a power board is worth $100 to you!

Actually if you are happy that is all that matters, I just can't stand this sort of crap service and being mucked around even tho it was a 2nd TV for me 2 I can find a lot of very good deals that don't include this hassles.

  • Agreed with harthagan ask them to give you a Vivo or return it as 2 months is a long wait.

  • Well I finally got the TV, after more then 10 delays. Didn't get the powerboard as they promised. Guess I'll probably have to wait another 2 months for that……

    • Well got my Powerboard delivered now. I'll leave it at that. Probably won't ever purchase from them again after this experience.

  • Hello please i really need help i am only a 13 year old kid and i just got an xbox 360 and i really want to play with good graphics i got this tv that we are talkink about the vivi 32 vslh32e7b but when i look at diffrent tvs they show better than mine iam really frustrarated plz just some help i use a component cable they say it shows better with hdmi
