for this price, save some of your money by getting the surface Pro 128gb if you don't need the 12.5" screen size… the surface pro is higher spec everywhere except the amount or ram 4gb vs 8gb and if keyboard required, get the optional keyboard

There's a big difference between a tablet with a detachable keyboard and a thinkpad.

    • However, if best in class keyboard is required, skip everything else and get a thinkpad.

    • this also has more than double the battery life

  • whats the benefit of having a touch screen if its only running Windows 7

  • nice, but out of stock

  • This is quite a different thing to a Surface Pro - its more of a laptop that doubles as a tablet than a tablet that doubles as a laptop. The basic specs are all lower, but it is more expandable and has a better keyboard. Plus you can really use it as a laptop. On the other hand it would be very heavy/bulky as a tablet. Shame about the 768 line display, but not too many options at that price range.

  • The good old days when X-series ThinkPad uses mobile CPU running at full speed. All the new X1/X240 are ULV only.

    • CPUMark results of the top Haswell ULV CPUs isn't that far off the mark from the 35W Ivy Bridge ones:

      i7-3540M@3.0 = 4725
      i7-3520M@2.9 = 4559
      i7-4600U@2.1 = 4335
      i5-3360M@2.8 = 4279
      i5-3320M@2.6 = 4050
      i5-3210M@2.5 = 3808
      i5-4300U@1.9 = 3751

Where the New Haswell ULV CPUs kick butt is power consumption. There Intel have integrated the chipset onto the CPU and now get much lower power consumption. We are talking 30%+ better than Ivy Bridge where the chipset is off-die. Note: that power consumption saving doesn't apply to systems that use off-die chipsets (eg: Series-8 HM87/QM87, etc).

  • Is the 230T windows 8 certified yet ? Last I remember it wasn't win8 certified because it didn't have 10 point multitouch or something.

  • also not fhd?

  • Show Out of Stock now.

  • Got one with same specs but 256GB SSD last August for $1200 from a deal on OZB, very happy with it. Sturdy and fast little machine, a typical Thinkpad X.
