  • I wonder if this one flips at all.

      you mean on ebay ?

  • How is this better or worse than any other cheap pop-up umbrella? Couldn't find any reviews.

    • I saw them at my local Katmandu store for $10. If it is sturdier than it looks, I'd buy a couple for sure.

    $10 delivery

    • Do they allow local store pickup?

Quite alot of umbrellas are designed to flip when a heap of wind is put against it. However the question is, does it flip back with no damage at all to the ribs.

Most cheap chinese umbrellas flip but while they flip their ribs get bent and when flipped back it no longer works anymore.

    • Years ago, I had a relatively expensive Sea to Summit umbrella which would flip back just fine. Trouble was, it'd flip too readily - in moderate wind, everyone around me would be fine with their ordinary umbrellas while my "windproof" umbrella would keep inverting, even though it survived the process.

Actually replaced it with a Korjo umbrella from Officeworks mentioned in the OP. Been quite pleased with that one, though it's not super compact - thinking of getting a Fulton Tiny which could fit in a jacket pocket.

    "Windproof Umbrella" But not waterproof?

It's Kathmandu….they have more sales then a rug warehouse.
overpriced crap even when on sale.

  • These ones are supposed not to flip..

    Cut and pasted
    """
The senz° original storm umbrella will withstand 100 km/h winds, or 70 mph if you like. We maxed out wind tunnels. We jumped out of airplanes. We´ve done just about anything to make sure our storm umbrella withstands winds up to 100 km/h.
    """

Have always planned to get one…

    • What i've found with one similar to this, such as Gustbuster:

      1. although they don't flip, due to the strong winds, the fabric may tear instead. I remember reading somewhere that tearing is the most frequent issue with super wind resistant umbrellas.

      2. Weight, quite often they have to add more to it to make it more wind resistant, therefore the weight goes up compared to something similar.

      • The Senz ones are listed as 260grams which seems reasonable.

    • "100 km/h winds, or 70 mph if you like".

60 mph = 100 kmh, but I guess some people might "like" 70 mph winds more. They may have maxed out wind tunnels but they definitely didn't max out on their conversion.

"We´ve done just about anything to make sure our storm umbrella withstands winds up to 100 km/h."

But not up to 70 mph, if you like?

      • 62..

    • I have the Senz Smart S model. Decent quality. Doesn't flip and I love it is very compact and light weight so can stay in the bag for emergency use. Love the longer length at the back.

The only issue is that it is too small… Wish it was a little wider. I guess compact umbrellas are like that.

I suppose I need 2 perfect umbrellas : One small compact for the bag and a large one for other occasions. For the large ones, Iwill look at the Gustbusters one.
