Just contacted them, they turned down saying they dont price match with companies that charge for deliveries.

      Totally random, I know.

      • I guess it was the big price difference (more than 100 dollars in this case) that beyond their affordable range. I have asked them for price beat before and they accepted without an issue. You can try other websites but be prepared for turn down.

        • i didnt manage to get an extra 8% from them however i did get them to price match and they have a shop in SA, so i went there got it price match + got a free electronic portable luggage scale and the 10year international samsonite warranty.. i dont know if people know but the luggage that scoopon is selling only has THERE "12 month warranty" i dont know how reliable that is but i wouldnt risk it.

        • Hi obses2ion,
Just wondering which store you purchased your samsonite luggage in SA. Would you please give me the address please?
          Warm Regards,
          Kelvin

        • sorry for such a late reply. just notice, however it was from bagworld at Harbour Town near the airport

  • Samsonite says it comes with 10 years of warranty, but CoTD says 12 months. Which one would apply?

    • they would both be valid.

cotd is the supplier, samsonite is the manufacturer.

    • +2

You can register your case on the official site for 10 years of warranty. No need to mess with CoTD after that.

    • Samsonite doesn't have warranty for damage caused during transit lol.

    • Thanks for the tip! Got in touch with the crows nest store, were happy to price match and then a 5% :)

They did want a scan of the driving license coz the order was greater than $300, so yeah thats that.

      Happy happy!

  • Anyone confirm any website actually will price match?

still don't get it why an ozbargainer would buy massively overpriced Samsonite luggage, just like people who buy monster hdmi cable…mysterious human mind..

I supposed the same could be said about Apple consumers.
Some people, myself included expect a certain quality. Thats what a brand name like samsonite provides.

My partner and I have been traveling around the world, her cheap $100 or so suitcase broke after 3 months of traveling around Europe. My samsonite case has lasted in the same conditions, and has been used for many more years prior and after.

After dragging a cheap shitty suitcase and a good quality one through hyde park, the quality of the wheel bearings makes a big difference!

I agree you do pay more for better quality for some brands, but I don't agree with you in this case of Samsonite. Not when they cost like 3-4 times more than say your Target brand. Ok, you're right, they're better in term of their roller & casing, less prone to breakage & lighter. But breakage mostly happen to those hard case one and does 2kg really make such difference in your trip? I bought some cheap polyester ones from like Victoria Station for like $100+ and I'd been to few countries over the past 5 years with no problem at all. Truth is, how often you really travel for average people to justify the cost of expensive luggage. You might as well spend those money saved on something else on the trip.

Let me tell you this, I happen to know enough "thieves" in airport in some Asia countries like to target more expensive luggage brands (i.e your Samsonite, America tourister, Polo etc.)

Not sure if you know this too. The easiest way to open the zip of the luggage is by poking a pen and sharp object through the zip. Trust me, I tried it on my partner's Samsonite. It's just as easy to open as some cheap Reject Shop ones. And if you don't lock your zipper, you probably don't even know it's been opened. Try it yourself if you don't believe me.

P/S Not saying this is not a deal, it's just not a bargain in my own eyes
