I don't think you understood what this deal was for.

The first rule of usenet is…

      • I thought its cloud storge, i really dont know what is it

        • thought its cloud storge, i really dont know what is it

          and yet you commented anyway

  • Who do these guys resell? Highwinds?

    • Yes

      • I wouldn't recommend Highwinds. I'm using Thundernews (A highwinds reseller) and the amount of files not completing due to take-downs is about 50%.

We're not talking about old files here either. Very recent stuff being downloaded automatically by SickBeard.

        • I left Thundernews (where I had a fantastic locked-in monthly price) for exactly that reason, and I haven't regretted it for a second.

At least if you choose to stay on Highwinds, switch to NzbDrone. It has a very handy blacklist and retry on failure feature)

And who did you move to from Thundernews?

        • I use NGD as my main block account as it is cheap. When it Fails Astra takes over and I have no issues.
Now if only I could get NZBget and SickBeard to work properly on my NAS.

        • I'm using a raspberry Pi with sickbeard and SADnzbd installed. An external hard-drive attached the the Raspberry Pi to store all the downloads.

Every so often, I dump the files from the raspberry pi onto the NAS. Saves lots of power.

        • Interesting, not something I could ever be bothered considering, but sounds pretty cool.

imagine how many linux images you could download!

    • ^^ Made me smile

  • Not sure if I should be posting this, because this "Special" has been going on for some time now… but for those of you who use USENET a little more frequently, $11/month unlimited with astraweb..

    http://www.news.astraweb.com/specials/kleverig-11.html

    • Just wonder with Astraweb which has 20 connections, how high the speed can one achieves? Especially for people on Optus. Currently with Thundernews with 50 connections and quite happy with it. However wouldn't mind trying out what other services are like.

      • Astraweb has always maxed out my connection… I'm only synching at 15000kbps and I'm getting sustained 1.6MB/s downloads

        • I regularly get > 5.0MB/sec sustained on my 100mbps Bigpond cable from Astraweb using only 8 connections.

        • Thanks for the feedback. I think I may give it a try with the $11 month.

        • If you don't download a ton, then try a block account, then you get 50 connections.
