Camera clearance sale at HN
I know the 1100D (http://m.harveynorman.com.au/canon-eos-1100d-digital-slr-cam…) has been cheaper with 18-55mm kit however $394 isn't bad for someone wanting to buy right now

  • Any with a lens, or a good recommendation?

    • If you are starting out I recommend the 1100D with lens
      http://m.harveynorman.com.au/canon-eos-1100d-digital-slr-cam…

I personally have the Nikon d5100 but I am bored of it now

      • I would probably go with a Canon because friends and family have Canons. I've used them before/know how to take good pictures with them if I really wanted to, but it would be more of a hobby thing more then anything professional. Is the 1100D good? Like would I be all like "this is crap, I get comparable photos with a good digital camera or my phone".

        • Its a few years old and even when new was based on old tech (450d). I'd suggest getting one of the 18mpixel models (eos-m / 1200d / 100d / 550d-700d / 60d / 7d) all of those will perform better in low light and have basically the same sensor.

In decent lighting with alright glass in front it's capable of good results, but there are other options which will make life easier.

        • The 600D with a decent lens (Canon 50mm f1.4 - ~$350), gives quite pleasing results for a beginner. If you can't afford the better glass, the 18-55mm kit lens or the 50mm f1.8, are ok to start with.

This isnt a big deal at all. This is only the body.

Target was selling the canon eos 1100d twin set for 199 last week :/
dick smith was selling it with the single lens for $295 couple of weeks ago.

    • http://www.target.com.au/p/canon-eos-11-d-twin-kit-lens/P525… was that available to buy online? Do you know if it is still available in store?

      • Not available, check the Target OzBargain thread for details.

    • unbelievable price @ $199 with twin lens

Target was selling the canon eos 1100d twin set for 199 last week :/

Not a fair comparison, and not worth a neg when Target didn't actually have any. One or two stores Australia-wide had had a couple that had sold out by the time someone here enquired.

    Usual HN sales tactics..

Canon EOS M - GG and JB sold their stock of this outdated camera off ~ Christmas for <$400. HN asking $598
Canon 600D - Again at Christmas Big W, and others sold the single lens kit for $490. HN asking $597.

Much of what they are advertising is outdated stock, at their usual inflated price.

Massive BS is more like it…..

Probably more Canon's fault, but who in their right mind would consider pairing a 70D, with a cheap'n'nasty 18-55mm lens (~$100-$120 device), and pay $1468 for the package.
