I've never heard of them. Have anyone used them before? It seems to be a really good bargain…

I was wondering this too, but under where you enter your email address it says…

"By clicking Start Saving, I confirm that I have read and agree to Terms & Conditions. MintyShop offers 7 days free trial of its $99 quarterly premium membership"

    So, no, I don't think it's a bargain. A bit misleading.

    • What if I get the tickets within 7 days and then cancel?

      • You could try, it might not work like that… but if you manage to get 2 tickets for $5, then that would be an amazing bargain. I guess there's no risk if you can cancel within 7 days. Maybe read the T&Cs first.

"This offer includes 7 days free trial period to MintyShop $99 quarterly membership and all its offers and discounts."

i imagine in 7 days time you are also going to have a $99 authorisation on your credit card as well. not so cheap any more.

the tickets are a carrot dangling on a stick …

  • Even with $99 quarterly..they have some great deals which makes it worth if its a real and not a scam…they have $1 for $35 vouchers for big w, woolworths, coles, ikea and many others…

  • Looks ponzi-ish

  • Someone please test this out and report back

Give me your credit card details to use and i'll be happy to ;)

For some reason I've got a bad feeling about that website.

      • Agreed, looks too good to be true, and I'm not comforted by the fact it's operated by a group based out of Gilbatar… Also, the address given is used by quite a few companies…

I thought I'd bite the bullet and try and sign up and report to ozbargain, wen't to the Catchoftheday offer since I have their membership and use Catchoftheday really often because of that. I enter my credit card detail and bam

'SORRY! THIS OFFER IS SOLD OUT.

Would you like to be notified when this offer is available again? Write to us and we will keep you posted!'

So I thought, ah well I'll give another one a go, try out the $35 off grocery shopping one and once again

'SORRY! THIS OFFER IS SOLD OUT.

Would you like to be notified when this offer is available again? Write to us and we will keep you posted!'

Warning sirens are going off in my head, if anyone has signed up and has a different result then please let us know. But I would strongly advise against anyone giving your details over to them, seems very dodgy and is very likely a scam collection credit card info.

    • Oh dear, did you give them legit credit card details?

If so, I would probably cancel that credit card just to be safe

I tried some fake credit card details and it says SOLD OUT on a lot of them.

Definitely a scam guys STAY AWAY

  • Normally when you sign up to one of these websites, you get a welcome / confirmation e-mail.

I signed up on Friday and haven't received one e-mail (not even anything in the spam folder)

Thanks to rekabkram and Gorian4 for testing out the offers.

  • There are advertisements all over ozbargain. Is there a way the mods can prevent the ads from appearing?

  • Furthermore… from the T&C's

"14. Choice of law, mandatory arbitration and venue

These Agreements are subject to the laws of Gibraltar without regard to choice or conflicts of law principles. Further, you and MINTYSHOP agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Gibraltar to resolve any dispute, claim or controversy that arises in connection with these Agreements."

    • Gibraltar is a tax free country, owned by the UK. If it's a UK company, then that would be reasonably standard. That and the Cayman islands.

  • the 1300 number is not valid & I couldn't find them on Australian business register

*********** SCAM ALERT SCAM ALERT SCAM ALERT - PLEASE READ ALL - I HAVE ALL DONE THE WORK FOR YOU************

It is very rare for me to post online, however, I felt the need to share my experience and do a public service announcement. When it comes to things like this, it is important to take a step back and see the big picture. Here we go:

I found this thread after I had made a purchase of the "OPAL CARD" pay $2 for $45 worth, I thought it was a website just like groupon/scoopon. WRONG. I have been scammed:

    1. Read all the previous posts on this thread

    2. They give you a PICTURE on the screen of a cheque of $45 after you make a purchase. MintyShop instructs you to scan or take a photo of this picture of a cheque and send this scan/photo of the cheque electronically to their email with your PayPal details. This cheque showing $45 and your PayPal details are required for them to make a refund to your PayPal account. Now read carefully:

    • The serial number on the top right is "12-12345" with "ABCDEFG" and underneath it is the "DATE". The "DATE" is listed as "Valid 30 days"
    • In the middle of the cheque is "PAY" on top line saying "Forty five dollars"
    • In the middle of the cheque is "FROM" on the bottom line saying "MINTYSHOP". To the right of this in a box is "$45". Below this box is a signature which looks like a scribble.
    • Spanning the bottom is another set of serial numbers "1 2345" 1234567 1234567 01", including the quotation marks in the middle and the spaces in the same spots.

Stop and think: they ask you to send a "scan or photo" of this cheque to their email within 30 days of purchase WITH your PayPal details. This is the only way they can cash the $45 back to your PayPal account, which takes 2 to 4 weeks. Here's question one, why would they want you to send a generic copy and paste cheque back to them via email??? It holds now value whatsoever because its not linked to anything

Now think about this, why would they want you to send them a generic cheque like that when I can just copy and paste a picture to all my friends and have them claim money from them too??? All I need to send them is a picture of this copy and paste cheque and any PayPal account - EVIDENCE OF SCAM.

Now for a generic cheque like that, which they use for all their different promotions, why would you need to send it to them with your paypal details? Why didn't they just ask for you paypal details to start with, to save. Also, if the date is "Valid 30 days", how do they know what day it the deal was purchased??? What if I send them a photo of the cheque with my PayPal details from my other email which was not used on MintyShop??? Will they send me $45 to my PayPal for a photo of every generic scam cheque I send them???

    1. The trial period is 72 hours from purchase. This trial period starts from the purchase of your first deal. The mandatory subscription is $129, automatically debited from your account if you do not cancel. It is $129 not $99 as someone mentioned before. They increased it because people are buying, maybe they realised they can make more before the heist is over.

    2. In an email they sent me it says "IMPORTANT NOTICE: DO NOT PRESENT YOUR MINTYSHOP CASHBACK VOUCHER TO A RETAILER IT WON’T BE ACCEPTED. THE CASHBACK VOUCHERS ARE ONLY VALID FOR REIMBURSEMENT DONE BY MINTYSHOP DIRECTLY. PLEASE FOLLOW THE ABOVE STEPS TO USE YOUR VOUCHER." The cashback voucher is the picture of that generic cheque they give you after you handed over you initial payment. The "ABOVE STEPS TO USE YOUR VOUCHER" are, and I quote again "Buy the product or service corresponding to the offer you have selected directly from your favorite retailer." The bottom clause says you can't claim from a local retailer, the top clause says to the buy the product relating to your offer directly from your favorite retailer Does that mean we claim directly from Opal? With what proof of purchase, the cheque with serial number 12-12345 ABCDEFGH? There is nothing on the "cashback voucher" or cheque that identifies which deal you bought. How is Opal going to honour that fake ass cheque??? I'll bet my life and my family's lives that Opal will not honour it.

    3. I just called the provided 1300 number, a female with a strong Chinese accent speaking English has recorded a voice message. I listen to different Chinese dialects and Chinese speaking English on a daily basis, so I know that she is Chinese. Very odd for a company based in Gibraltar, which is based south of Spain, or even more so the Mauritius. This is according to previous poster who said the address they use is used by multiple companies. Ok found it on an email they sent to me: "MintyShop is edited by e-Promotion Ltd Level 3, Alexander House, 35 Cybercity, Ebene, Mauritius. The company e-Promotion Limited (Suite 3, 2nd floor, icom house, 1/5 irish town, Gibraltar)"
They're giving two addresses for one company?? Google the Mauritius address and you'll see multiple companies websites that correspond to that address, one being "ICIJ Offshore Leaks Database"

THE END RESULT: They have your credit card details and your PayPal email. You don't know where to claim your deal to get real cash money on your Opal Card, or Coles voucher, whatever deal you purchased, because you can't actually redeem anything. You are waiting for 2 to 4 weeks to get your money back, and after 72 hours, there is $129 credited out of your account, plus the $2 or $5 you spent to buy the deal. You are $131 out of pocket, with no deal to claim, and they've got your financial details. Basically they're scamming as many people as they can for 4 weeks and politely put, running off with our hard earned money.

I sent them an email to cancel my membership/account. I doubt they will get back to me before the 72 hours is up so they can debit $129 out of my account. I'm going to close the bank account associated with them, which I was planning to anyway, that's why I used it for this website. My hard earned $115k+ AUD is safe :D

They've got a Taiwanese version of the website, copy and paste. Also look on scamadviser.com and read the info about the website and the user comments. Scam.

I hope this reaches everyone who thinks about buying from MintyShop.

I've given you the facts. The choice is yours.

  • Unfortunately fell for the OPI card scam a couple weeks back…..
Used my Qantas Cash card to try it out. Received an email with the image of a cheque like what tempuser1 has described. Something didn't seem right and blocked the emails from Mintyshop from then.

This afternoon I decided to check the balance under my Qantas Cash account. Money which I vaguely remember was still there. HOWEVER, upon looking at the transaction history I see 3 withdrawal attempts for $129.00 on 13, 14 and 17 of November. The $129 from what I've read is the subscription fee!

Fortunately, the account had only ~$15. Time to shred the Qantas Cash card =(

  • Thanks for the warning guys!!! This mob is currently doing a promo on MYKI in Melbourne.

    https://www.mintyshop.com.au/offers/payment/vip/quarterly/28…

    Dodgy!!!

  • I paid $2 for the Myki thing, read this post and called Commbank to cancel my debit card straightaway.
    Thanks guys
