Yeah that's what I was surprised about as Amazon say it's from Japan. Maybe if someone has bought it before they can let us know what the box says?
The shaver, box and dishwasher states "Made in China" although the box says Panasonic Corporation Osaka Japan.
It is only a 1000km difference.

I have the 5 blades version Panasonic ES-LV52-R from Japan for $150 delivered. It is lighter and better than my Braun Series 7.

It was a run out sale at amazon.co.jp a 8 months ago. The shaver was also made in Japan. Very nice quality and wishing I had bought 2. This is my 1st Panasonic shaver after having been using many Braun shavers in the past.

The shaver and clean and charge unit both are definitely made in China
This shaver also has a companion model ES-LT31 which does not have a clean and charge unit which is the model that superseded the ES-8103 (posted in a previous deal). The model that the LT-71 superseded is the ES-8109.
The ES-8103 is a 4-5 year old model and is no longer in production (deleted) and the LT-31 and LT-71 is about 2 years old and will be deleted later this year.
The LT-31 will be superseded by a ESLT-33 (w/o clean and charge unit). But the companion model with a clean and charge unit has not been announced yet.
In answer to shave performance. The ES-8103 and the LT-71 have the same performance as they have the same motor, blades and movement. The difference is if you want a clean and charge unit and a newer model with a ES-LT71.
