Hard Drive - WD Red 3TB $159 @ CentreCom

180

If you missed out on the 4tb deal, this one is better value for money per tb anyway. Outside of these deals, other retailers such as cpl.net.au or msy.com.au will be cheaper ALMOST ALWAYS compared to CentreCom - or sometimes EVEN CHEAPER than CentreCom's sale price. So be careful.

I only buy from CentreCom when on sale/clearance, or I need something urgently, or just can't be bothered driving to MSY for one item!

Be nice to me as I am new at these sorts of sites :-) Thank you…

I think you are not a true ozbargainer.

Ozbargain is a way of life and I follow it religiously. Here is one example…

Bought a pack of pasta from coles. Went home and cooked it. Had my dinner. A couple of days later i had to go to Woolies. Saw the same pasta at a cheaper price. My ozbargain instincts kicked in. Bought few more packs from woolies. Went home, found my receipt from Coles and retuned one pack to them. Saved around a dollar. Although it isn't much money at least I feel better that I am not paying extra for the same item.

You can be an ozbargainer without being a tightarse IMO
There is an opportunity cost associated with my own time and travel

      • -2

Being tightarse (no offense to TA) would imply not forking out money in the first place.
Being ozbargainer means not forking out extra money.

        • +1

Even a tightarse has to eat though

        • +2

Won't the petrol cost be more than a dollar. This is a real cost, not an opportunity cost!

Unless you used a push bike .

My neighbor was going to Coles. I tagged along.

I used to work doing maintenance for woolworths and used to see people driving late model euro's dumpster diving . Thats being a tightarse .

        • Yeah, never drive a late model euro.

        • Read in a paper a few year's ago - about the new asset rich 'poor' class emerging in Australia. Not advocating these people but these are ones probably struggling with their expensive loan repayments.

even if it's through a straw

If you return item from Woolworths to Coles, means it's cheating?

      • -4

I returned the same product. So I don't think it is.

        • +14

          it is cheating IMO
you might think it is OK because it is the same product
BUT you are returning something to Coles which is not sold by them and were not owned by them
same packaging and barcode doesn't mean they are the "same"
what you have done is unethical really and only a real tightarse will do so
and please don't encourage to follow

yeah, questionable behaviour. check the safety seals on your pasta for the next few weeks people.

Nothing is off the table when dealing with these two scumbag companies.

        We are at war.

Brilliant stuff ms. Love your work.
Did the same thing with a couple of V8 juices I purchased. The food always tastes so much better afterwards!

    • at least you gave the sales person a story to tell and roll their eyes at for many years to come

  • hahaha! ms - I like your way of thinking! Thanks for the tips. Maybe I'm not YET but I'm willing to learn…

  • Moderator thanks, I'm finding my way around the system

I will always use CentreCom over MSY as they have superior service to MSY. With my experiences with MSY they will never receive my money again.

    • And you'll pay a premium for that experience too. It's worth it, for some people, but for the majority of ozb-er's, I think they prefer to have that 10-20% premium safely in their pockets.

    • i've had run-ins with all three of these players (centrecom, msy, cpl) in the past, so for me customer service argument not relevant, only convenience, so best to pay lowest price.

If you suspect you may be returning it buy from dse, target, myer, officeworks

I'm not advocatong this but if you have time you could buy from dse, officeworks, etc, try it, if it's good return it to dse, then buy another one from msy at rock bottom price

Or you could do as per ms comment above: return the one from msy to dse, officeworks, so you save yourself a trip

As i said, dont do as i do….
