Airline upgrades websites

Hi All,

I remember there being a website where you can pay to potentially have an upgrade on several airlines,

Can someone help me with the name please? Any stories of use would also be great

  • Option town?

  • +1
  • Have tried it on Airasia X before. Decently high upgrade/option chance if you're travelling alone or in a pair and the flight isn't packed.

Tried it whilst travelling last week with a group of 4, no luck. Refunds were processed promptly within 4 business days so no problems with the service.

  • We used Optiontown two weeks ago for our Air Asia flights to Thailand and back. Everything went smoothly. We payed for the ESO (Empty Seat Option) where you get a vacant seat next to you if possible. They guarantee a refund if not available, but we got ours for both flights, even when the return flight was basically full. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

  • Anything available to South America? via Qantas/Lan. How much do they charge?

  • This looks pretty cool. Any experiences with Singapore air? Is there a way to find out the costs before paying to sign up?

    • Singapore Airlines don't do 'upgrades,' and that's been one of their long time policies (yes, even their Gold Krisflyer members almost never see upgrades). You're often better off trying to win the lottery than getting an upgrade with Singapore Airlines.

However, you can technically secure an 'upgrade' with ANY airline - but the cost will generally be the difference between a Business Class and Economy ticket, so if you're looking for cheap upgrades, the only airlines that offer that are the budgets (AirAsia, Scoot, Jet*) or the 'not so premium airlines' e.g. Vietnam Airlines, and a lot of the U.S airlines.

You can also bid for upgrades now with a bunch of airlines, like Virgin Australia and Austrian, but it will generally be +$1000 for each international long-haul sector.
