    This standard edition is a good buy. I got the Special Edition version from Amazon UK of this the last time Planet Earth was on sale. Paid just under $30 delivered for that one. Unfortunately the Special Edition doesn't seem to be on sale.

        special edition has a paper notebook or something like that and a bonus dvd? not sure, doesn't bother to check:)

        still happy with my standard copy bought in 2011 when it was 15 pound.

        Special Edition is a 6 disc set 1080i 25fps with bonus extra documentaries and the standard version is a 5 disc set 24fps 1080p. The major difference is the Special Edition matches the original 1080i 25fps master recording so there's no speedup. As you might know BBC records all their HD master recordings not in 1080p but in 1080i.

      and save a bit of shipping for 2 or more items. amazon only increased the shipping by a bit for each extra blu-rays, instead of multiplying per items.

      Me. But I am far from interested in 99.99% of movies since I find they have low replay value and are mostly hollywood tosh and / or expensive. I like a good (cheap) doco though.

          Yes, but I am not much of a movie-fan to be honest (again, low replay value). I prefer non-fiction and no actors (documentaries, science, etc). I have very little interest in movies in general (and basically no desire to own a collection of them).

      I bought the Planet Earth standard version from Amazon USA a while back but luckily it was the David Attenborogh set. There is a set sold in the USA with Oprah as narator and another proper set with David Attenborough. You have to be careful buying which one from the USA.

      Lol, that's impulsive.bought a laser bd1000 last year which is multiregion for both DVD&blu. Seems to do the trick for a affordable player. Previously had a Sony blu ray for several years and both seem equally capable/good.

    Got mine.
    Top and bottom cardboard holding the 5 discs was a little creased on my set (probably squashed in transport), but I am sure I will enjoy these.
