From everyday items such as mobile phones, DVDs or DIY to clothing, collectibles and even cars. Trading on eBay is easy and fun and you'll never know what you might find.

  • Hey. Anyone know when this offer started? I bought something on eBay through Velocity eStore last Wednesday for $300, not showing up in pending yet…

    • +1

Can take up to a month, for points to appear, they have this offer on and off as I made some purchases in March and got the bonus points then (have just appeared in my account)

    $1 = 4 points
    Was $1 = 4 points

    Where's the special?

    • +2

      It's usually $1 = 2 points

  • Previous promotion was $1 = 6 points

    • Which was that? I never seen it for $1 = 6 points

      • Sorry can't find a link to that promotion but it was on in February this year.

  • Step 1, advertise my coffee cup on ebay for a million bucks
Step 2, my wife wins the auction with her million dollar bid
Step 3, she makes a 'payment in cash' when she comes to pick up item
Step 4, I'm rollin' in FF points

    Just sayin'…

So you are going to be asked to pony up the $100,000 comission on that transaction. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to release the points until the transaction is completed in eBay.

      • OK, knew there was a catch somewhere!

        • +6

I had second thoughts and did the math but if you still paid the $100,00 comission it still doesn't work out.
A return flight to LA on business class will cost you 212,500 rewards points. Your transaction gives you 4,000,000 points so that gives you 19 business class return flights to the US for $100,000. Their Business Saver flights go for about $5,100 return so going off that logic you would still lose $3,100.
So if that mythical 6 points per $1 option ever comes up, it actually makes sense to do what you did if you want a cheaper airfare on business class overseas. Just sell your cup for $40,000 instead.

^^ this is why I love OzBargain. That someone decided to do the maths on this.

  • Have done well with collecting the points from these. Just frustrating when you forget to login via Virgin first.

Wish there was some way to remind me before purchasing things. Maybe i need to edit my eBay bookmark to be the link to the Velocity page.
