  • Are Scanpan really worth it?

    • $30 per piece isn't really expensive.

    • Definitely not at the (alleged) RRP but per the commenter above at $30/item they're good value if you want a basic but good quality stainless steel set

    • Definitely not there Non-stick Pans.

I have this exact set and have used it almost every day for the past 5 years.. No complaints at all - good solid cookware, will last forever

    • Same here, very good quality and will last. Yes the RRP is ridiculous but good value at this price.

  • If you're serious about a good set of stainless steel cookware, look at Essteele. Made in Italy and strong as hell. This ScanPan set is marked as "Designed in Denmark" but choose to actively hide the fact that its made in China (mostly) or other places like Thailand or Indonesia. Not sure if this affects the quality of the product, but based on this I'd rather avoid and spend a few extra bucks for a durable set. Good choice if you're starting out or have a limited budget though. And that RRP is so inflated its not funny.

Please tell me where I can buy a 10-piece Essteele set for "a few extra bucks" :)

      • I agree, it's really not helpful recommending another brand without giving a price indication. This is OzBargain after all.

      • "A few extra bucks" doesnt really translate as "another $7". Jeez, I didnt know I had to spell things out for people.

My point was spend more money getting quality cookware rather than this. That is my preference anway. I'd prefer my cookware to last a lifetime rather than just 5-10 years.

  • While definitely much more expensive, I would say go get a Woll pan if you're after a proper non-stick pan. I bought one for my mom earlier this year and she's never put the thing away!

    • These are not non-stick. Made from 18/10 stainless steel with an impact-bonded aluminium base. Will last for years.

I'm always sceptical when I am told I am saving >2x what I am paying.
