  The kettle is a masterpiece of how design dominates function (in other words: piece of **** (insert favourite 4 letter expletive)).

  It looks pretty but handling it is a hazard all the time:
  * put the shopping on the benech - oops the kettle accidentally got turned on since the switch sticks out so far
  * accidentally touch the metal - scalded
  * trust the inaccurate water level indicator: not quite enough water, scalded from steam when trying to empty out the last drop
  * wastes lots of bench space due to the conical shape
  * wastes lots of energy due to inaccurate water level display

  I truly wish they never made it and we never bought it.

  I have the toaster and the kettle. Summary of toasted = twice replaced as fault. summary of kettle = three times replaced as fault. Make sure you keep the receipt as these things are overpriced rubbish.
