Bought a charger, received a...clock????

Hey knowledgeable ozbargainers I was hoping you could give me some advice on the following situation.

I bought this item here:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139370

And yes before you comment, I do realise now that it was likely a fake.

So after buying the item I received no notification from Tmart except for my Paypal receipt.

Today I received this piece of rubbish in the mail…

http://www.tmart.com/Mini-Spy-Digital-Alarm-Clock-Hidden-Pin…

It's like asking for a measly tennis ball for christmas and getting a kick in the face from grandma instead…

I've already raised a dispute with Paypal. Is there any other courses of action I should take? Should I escalate the claim if they don't reply within a few days???

Do you really need someone to tell you to contact the seller? I'm really confused with threads like this.

What is the point of this thread?

  • To be fair the clock is worth more, just keep it and suck it up. Why did you want a charger you knew was fake anyway?

    • +1

I didn't know it was fake when I bought it. Will teach me not to buy an item before some other ozbargainers leave comments vouching for the item.

The clock is about the cheapest looking piece of crap I have ever seen.

It looks like it should be a prop in a tv scene where they want to show how depressing a character's life is.

I ordered a sandwich from my girlfriend once, got a years worth of abuse. Your deal seems better.

I saw the word 'sandwich' and 'girlfriend' and my mind went straight to the gutter. Or was that the intended meaning?

Could be worse. I ordered some golf balls from Harvey Norman, they sent me a casserole dish.
    So when I'm struggling on a trick par-4 dog-leg, I just whip up a quick boeuf bourguignon…

    • Golf balls, casserole dish. Yeh i can see how they mixed it up.

  • +3

How bizarre! Perhaps they somehow inadvertently sent you the wrong item.

  • +8

I think they are just winding you up sending you a clock. :)

You should really give the deal a positive vote if you are going to go ahead and buy it.

  • its their way of saying ' you're time is up'

"to give a clock" (Chinese: 送鐘, Chinese: 送钟) in Chinese is pronounced "sòng zhōng" in Mandarin, which is a homophone of a phrase for "terminating" or "attending a funeral" (both can be written as 送終 (traditional) or 送终 (simplified)).

TLDR: Tmart wants you to kick the bucket?

    • Yep, and play her this great song to get her in the mood…. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiTRm7qMwlg

      • That song from Moloko is soo creepy. I would choose this one instead ;)

Edit:But seriously though, I wouldn't use this clock for a home made vid. I'll get an HD camera and a tripod.

          A cautionary tale

I’ve always been a fan of badly-acted porn, but lately I’ve been getting the urge to get a little more ‘hands-on’, so to speak. While having sex with my girlfriend, I suggested that we should make some of our own home-made porn. I also told her that my ultimate fantasy would be to see her getting it on with another girl while I film it. Her reaction wasn’t exactly ‘positive’. She threw away all my DVDs (even the ones that weren’t porn!) and I’ve been sleeping on the couch for the past week. How can I make her come around to my way of thinking?

Whoa that's harsh, man. Raise a dispute with Paypal.U'll get your money back and sell the clock on gumtree or ebay. There should be a market for this kind of stuff. Lots of suspicious partners out there.

    • +1

Eh no. That's not how it works. If you lodge a dispute with paypal you will have to send the item back for a refund and pay for the postage out of pocket. As I previously stated, contact the seller and I'm sure they will happily pay for return postage and send you out the correct item.

      • +1

Last time this happened to me, the seller replied to my many emails, only after I lodge a dispute with paypal. He apologised for the mistake, told me to keep the item and gave me the option of either getting a refund or sending the correct item. However this was on ebay.
By all means, try 2pro4sho's way first.

Haha thanks for the comments, made me laugh. I was just really annoyed when I received the clock and wanted to vent.

For anyone still interested in this tale…

I'm still waiting on Tmart to reply to the dispute. The reason I couldn't contact them directly is that they never sent me a proper invoice, hence I have no order number and can't use their live chat functions.

I've bought plenty of things from overseas and this is the first real issue I've ever had. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
