  • They are running 30% off promotion at the moment in-store.. well MYERS are doing the same as well online and instore.
but its been listed as $599 at MYERS so price match it with DJ and then get 30% applied.

  • Myer Melbourne City would not sell the set for this to me, they said best they could do was $299 after multiple phone calls.

  • Thank you I have been waiting weeks for this!!!!

I have this exact knife set and block for about 2 years, and I absolutely love it. I think I paid about 380 for them, so this seems like a good price.

Just make sure you keep you knives dry, don't leave them overnight after washing, make sure you dry them straight away.

I also have the minosharp plus 3 ceramic sharpener which I use every couple of months to keep them super sharp.
… sometimes I cut myself when I sharpen them because I underestimate how sharp the are :(

Same here. They say that "you should respect these knives when using them" in the instructions booklet and they are right. When you don't, you start slicing things you shouldn't.

  • I just rang DJs Perth and this offer is only applicable to DJ AMEX or storecard holders. The storecard is free and they are happy to honour the price if you also apply for the card in store.

  • I do have the receipt with me.. if wanted I can upload it.

But I got it from MYERS.

    • upload receipt pls, might drop by myers and pick one up

      thanks!

      • away from home.. !!

but in another hrs time I will be able to upload it.

        • Could you please upload it, i just rang my local store and they said they can only price match and not apply the 30% off post price matching.

While this is pretty cheap (The Aus retail prices are just -insane-), you have to ask if you'll really use all of it. The block and paring knives bulk out the numbers, and I don't care if a bread knife is fancy.

You can grab the 27 and 13 cm G series from http://search.oo.com.au/search#w=global for about $150, and put the rest towards a good sharpener for example.

  • I have this set, and am happy with it - although I must admit I have snapped one of them.

    • I read that if you contact Global they may send you a replacement, worth a try.

      • oh ok, not even sure if I still have it to be honest… might have a look for it.

    • Can I ask what you did to snap it?

We're you using it to cut something hard, like rock or concrete? Haha

      • can't really remember - probably frozen chicken.

        • I snapped mine whacking a pumpkin. Sent it back to global without a receipt and they replaced it for free.

        • Actually, that may have been the same for me… think it was the vegetable one I snapped… probably pumpkin! Who knows it was a while ago.

    • oh the other thing that should be noted about these are that while the are very easy to sharpen, they also go blunt very quickly. So do take some advice about buying a good sharpener - you'll need to use it often.

If buying from Myer, i'd check out this deal from Woolies - buy $50 gift card, and get $10 off your next woolies shop. Should be able to buy a few then combine to buy your knives. Just watch out for ING police if buying multiples in the one day from the one store.

Also, note short use buy date on the $10 off. (15/5) Not sure if you can buy 1, then use $10 off to buy subsequent one?

  • I cannot seem to find the DJ's special, i also called one of their stores to confirm the 30% off today and it was not available :( I looked on the DJ's website for the David Jones Instant Rewards as part of the Instant Rewards program they offer David Jones Card Members, but it was also not there?
So i am a bit confused as to how I can get these knives for $279.30 - I would absolutely love to buy them today (I have been waiting for this sale for ever).
Thanks in advance - otherwise I have to wait until next sale.

Bought this on the 11th for $279.30 at DJ but had to apply for storecard (free) before she would process this as an exception. The 30% off was only for DJ AMEX or storecard holders and ended on the 11th. Store rep mentioned that they were clearing stock and it is no longer on the website. Coincidentally Myer's price has gone from $599 to $699!. Myer Perth and Karrinyup both refused to price match.

Protip: In the search box at the top type in "Global" (without the quotes). On the following page click "Create Alert" and next time someone posts a deal you will be notified, that's how I found out about this deal. You can replace Global with Ikasu or something more specific.
