The stock is sourced from Latin America

So they won't even buy it there ?

    • +9

These are probably Mexican cartel stolen stocks.

No Apple warranty support, and no out-of-warranty' replacements, in Australia.

Not worth it - pay a bit more for a new iP4S.

Or, do as I did, grab a used iP4S 32GB for $150 via eBay Australia. I cleaned it well - added a 'copy' box from AliExpress, and a new cable, and headset, and AC Charger. Total cost about AU$175

iPhone 4s 8G AU Stock $399, but seems Telstra Locked
    https://onlineshop.telstra.com.au/prepaid-mobile/checkout?pf…

    • +2

It is free to unlock however :)

      • No it's not.
The 8gb are prepaid so not free.

      • $150 or $27.50 after 6 months activated

I'm an IOS user myself but that is a terrible price to pay for such an old phone that won't run the current OS or apps very well.
You could pay probably half as much for a second hand 4S in good condition.

      • +3

No, they really don't. Difference between 4 and 4S running IOS7 is huge.

      • +1

Chances are that it will be the last update.

The previous 3GS model no longer receives iOS updates.

      • +1

        define "fine".
mine became super slow after updates, had to do some tweaking to settings to get it to run faster again.

        • +1

          define "fine".

the phone still works, but not much else…

        • Yes the first couple of updates to ios 7 really killed 4 & 4s. The latest update runs much quicker than the first release.

The difference between the 4 & 4s is bus frequency, all other hardware is the same.

        • +2

The difference between the 4 & 4s is bus frequency

Our buses still ran to the same timetable even after I upgraded from the 4 to the 4s.

        • +1

See there you go, you miss one bus and catch the next

        • IOS 7 is very slow on the iPhone 4, but IOS 7.1 is ok. There isn't anything i need for the speed of iPhone 5, but almost $350 for a old 8G phone probably too much.

      • My iphone 4 runs fine on ios7 - its a work phone so no choice to upgrade.

  • +2

you can get a Telstra prepaid 4s 8GB instead for $399 plus $30 credit, I was lucky got one for just $300, local warranty and Bluetick, but not as smooth as 5s, now in drawer lol

  • and you can have it unlocked for just $27.50 after 6 months

  • +4

Might be OK if Apple didn't force you to use IOS 7.1 but they do so at any price it's not worth it.
My iPhone 4 runs like ass after a curry smorgasbord on IOS 7 and can't downgrade.

    • +1

That's what Apple did for every version of the Iphone. Cant wait to see the day the 5s runs like ass. Bet it will happen, and I bet that's done on purpose so people buy the next Iphone.

    • Sounds like it is running pretty fast to me :-)

  • +1

I feel sorry for people who still use iPhones.

    • +4

I can see your Sorry can be divided into merely merely merely small parts coz there are still millions of people using them … I ain't iFan but you cannot choose for someone's choice, especially you are not paying a cent to stuff that they buy.

  • +4

$350.. Still a lot of money for a phone that's 4 generations old now. And it's not even AU stock.

    • If you want an Iphone, you have to pay up, this is still the cheapest Iphone model on sale now.

      • For this price, at the very least you would expect local warranty. Either Apple users are chumps or Apple is treating them like it.

  • Shows at $349.95 not $339.95

Either way its a very bad phone and there just dying to get rid of it I'd rather have a Samsung galaxy S2

    • +4

Having had an S2 and an iPhone 4 (and now an android user) I would take the iPhone 4 over the S2 any day

      • +1

I'd wager that a used iPhone 4 is worth more than a used S2. Don't forget to factor in your resale value when you buy a pricey telecommunicational device.

    • S2 is slower than iPhone 4 though, my brother had a S2, it run much slower than my iphone 4 (iOS 7.1)

  • -1

I think the 5S is still the best small-form factor phones around, and iOS7.1 is "arguably" the best smartphone ecosystem. That being said, think how cheap an android or even blackberry with similar or better specs would be. 340 for a museum piece is absurd.

  • I don't even know why you'd compare the s2 against this, this is closer to n5 prices. A cheaper possibly better alternative would be the moto g.
