  • A decent deal if you need a sub-standard mouse, crappy speakers, a refurbished flash drive (Wonder how long that will last?) and the only saving grace is the Creative headset (barely).
What's postage cost, out of curiosity?

    • The refurbish flash drive still got 1 year warranty =)

shipping cost i think its around $15 syd and $18 metro melb and bris…

  • -1

    Crappy deal ..

You can get a much better specs laptop from dell for $50 more (after 10% off) -> include free delivery as well!

    http://www1.ap.dell.com/au/en/home/notebooks/laptop-inspiron…

ozbargain should delete these kinds of advertising, it's not a deal at all :(, so many advertising lately …

    • Come on… the deal is not that bad, if you were to buy this exact model NL396PA else where you don't get all these added freebies.

Plus the cheapest on staticice is $848 which is just $1.99 cheaper than our one…

      • Only if you like HP I guess .. the price is not that bad compared to all the other stores (although the difference is not that much, around 879$ at my local store in WA (no special), so, taking into account delivery cost, the price should be the same as mwave).

Only if you like the freebies, then it will be a bit of a deal, although I suspect most ppl won't even care about the freebies (and we all hate the word refurbished :P).

I usually compare the price with Dell, and for the same/similar price ($899 after 10% off and free delivery), you got Inspiron with the following specs:

        Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.1GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2M)

Operating System Genuine Windows Vista(R) Home Premium SP1 32 bit Edition (English)

Memory 3GB (1x2GB/1x1GB) NECC Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM Memory

Keyboard Dell(TM) Keyboard with Touchpad (English)

Video Card Intel(TM) Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD

Hard Drive 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Optical Drive 8X DVD+/-RW Drive with DVD+R double layer write capability

Audio Solution Intel(R) High Definition Audio 2.0

Dell Services: Hardware Maintenance 1 Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis

        WinRE Dell(TM) PC-Restore

        Palmrest Option Black Palmrest

Wireless Network Card Dell Wireless 1397 802.11b/g Half Mini Card

        Batteries 6-cell Primary Battery

In my opinion, this is a better deal, but for HP fanatic, your offer is quite good as well, assuming they like the freebies :).

By the way, 1 GB RAM is not enough these days .. :( .. at least 2GB, preferably 4GB ..

  • Come on, 2GB SO-Dimm only $30 How can Dell compare to HP Quality, Just like Kia Compare to BMW, get real

    • Let's see they both have overseas phone support and similar warranty policy.

They are very close in quality.

They both do a lot of corporate market.

So I would say same quality.

  • Windows Vista Business,$90 more than Windows Vista(R) Home Premium

    • Vista Business doesn't have media centre and Home Premium does.

    • Seems like you are very subjective, only compare the one that you want to make the offer looks attractive ..

How about comparing the processor (Dell one is at least 150-200$ more expensive) and memory (around 30-50$ perhaps)? as well as harddrive etc.

What I'm trying to say is that the deal is not as good as what people would think. I can get this laptop for $879 on my local store (mwave will cost me more because of the delivery cost) … unless I take into account the freebies.

Why would you discuss Dell Vs HP quality anyway? It's not like HP is better than Dell. I have been using both products since 2000, and never have any single issue with any of them, they are both a good brand …

      • There are crappy Dells (Inspiron) and very good Dells (Latitude). There are crappy HPs (any Compaq these days) and very good HPs…

As of Business vs. Home Premium, I think they are targeting different group of users.

  • Ok, Let's Just talk about this HP model, can U post any link that has better than this deal.

  • System has older X3100 graphics/965PM chipset. Lenovo G530 for ~$790, Acer 5536 or Dell Inspiron 15 offering newer tech for similar pricepoint.
