PIONEER Sound Bar - SBX-N500 - $269 Free Delivery Was $499 @ Rio

80

After my post yesterday was so successful I thought I would have another look at the Rio website and see what else they had on special and saw this Sound Bar on their front page, I had a quick look around and I could not find them anywhere cheaper, also the reviews look quite good for a cheap sound bar.

  • Bought! Great deal I hope!

  • These sites really need to start putting higher-res images of the products they are selling.

Yes, I know, I can go onto Google and search for it but it's never a good idea to send shoppers away from your site, because while I am on Google I might search for better pricing, too.

  • The SLH600 is also on special at $199 (from $699).
I can only find reviews for it as part of a home theatre package, not standalone.

I take it the main difference is that this has no inbuilt amp, so couldn't drive it straight off a TV output.

    • the slh600 looks much nicer, and yep - not many details on the soundbar itself
if only there was someone who has one that could comment

  • How does it connect to your TV? So if I have Foxtel with a Austar HD Box that I wanna use it with?

      • There is no HDMI in, so I assume you need to have optical out from your foxtel box to connect to it. If your TV have ARC hdmi then it should stream the audio down to the soundbar while your foxtel box is connected to the HDMI of the TV.

"However, the lack of HDMI inputs causes a slight complication. The Pioneer's setup menus, YouTube and DLNA content have to be viewed onscreen through the HDMI output. Therefore the Pioneer needs to be connected to one of your TV’s HDMI inputs.
But with no HDMI inputs on the Pioneer, other equipment like Blu-ray players and TV receivers needs to be connected to different inputs on your TV. So if you’re watching a Blu-ray film and you want to adjust the Pioneer’s setup menu or watch YouTube, you have to switch inputs on your TV."

  • I jumped on this yesterday. Did your post get deleted? Waiting for mine in the mail XD.

  • Think I will skip, if I connect it to my TV via HDMI like its meant to be one of my other used a lot HDMI devices is gonna miss out

  • This is a great price. I have this sound bar and it's pretty good - but note there is an issue with the ARC input and some LG TVs. It works, but if you try using the other sound input modes(like Bluetooth) or even try opening the settings menu on the Sound Bar, it constantly exits these back to the ARC input mode. No combination of ARC and HDMI CEC settings resolved this, so I'm using Optical input with HDMI for CEC on/off volume up/down. Slightly annoying. Lucky it comes with a TOSLINK cable.

  • Can you connect this to an amp?

  • Slh600 very tempting. This might allow me to play ps3 games in 3d again (since my TV inexplicably stopped accepting pps3 HDMI).. Any thoughts on the slh00?

  • +1

just found the SBX 500n for $199 with free shipping at DSE eBay Store, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PIONEER-SOUNDBAR-SBX-N500-/251556…

Additional 15% with coupon code "CBIGSUNDAY" Valid Sunday 22/6 from 10:01 until 23:59 only. equates to $169.15 with free shipping

  • Bought one of these from DSE online about 2 weeks ago for $224. Thought that was a good price then.. Damn

  • Received this today and for the price it is actually a very surprising sound bar. The audio is great, hooks up very easily to a ARC enabled TV HDMI port and the Bluetooth/Miracast/Media player are surprisingly functions. Actually the bluetooth sound is very good.
Also, Rio were great in answering emails and postage was quick…

BTW. The special is still on on..

  • Thanks to all the earlier posters about Rio and Dick Smith pricing.

I missed the super Dick Smith deal but daily searching since & came up trumps today.

Bought SBX-N500 from Dick Smith online for $229 (online exclusive that started today).
Got another $20 off using SAVE20 discount code avail. to first 500 orders this weekend.
So $209 delivered as no delivery charge (to Adelaide).

Ebay DSE store has it at $449. Go figure!
