McDonalds Fish and Chips for $2.80 Regular and $5.60 Large

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Hi thought I give my two cents worths on how to get cheap fish and chips

I will be comparing this with your local fish and chips shop

Average price for a local fish shop is around $8.50 - $12.50 which consist of a piece of fish and an amount of fries (size of fries and fish varies from shop to shop), type of fish varies from dory, hoki, flathead, butterfish and flake.

This is what Mcdonalds offer, Fish [Alaskan Pollock, Southern Blue Whiting or Hoki] - type of fish according to their website.

Order just the fish patty $1.80 per fillet (without the buns and toppings) and small fries $1.00 from the dollar menu. Double up for large portion or triple up for extra large.

You pretty much get the same thing for half or less the price.

Summary

Local fish and chips $8.50, $12.50
Mcdonalds fish and chips $2.80, $5.80

Enjoy!

You can't compare McDonalds restaurants with other places that sell real food.

      McDonalds restaurants

Lol I love how they class themselves as a "restaurant"

      • More than just a restaurant, a "World Famous Restaurant"

    rubbish not a real deal

I've never seen Gummy Shark on the Maccas menu…

A fillet o fish patty does not compare to a real piece of fish from a fish and chip shop

    • +3

Yea I laughed when he compared the fillet of fish patty. It's like 4 times smaller. Same with the fries.

  • +3

A fillet'o'fish patty and their fries are nowhere near the same as normal fish and chips.

This is not a cool hack.

  • +4

frozen cheap nasty fish compared to a nice fresh fillet cooked to order with good quality chips, umm ill pass on the maccas..

    Next Maccas hack:

Buy a Big Mac beef patty and large fries instead of that ribeye steak and chips… save over $30!

  • I am sure when I saw this a few weeks ago it was advertised there as "flathead" (Frankston, Victoria). I assume it was not Australian "flathead" as the supermarkets supply "flathead" from America not Australia. If so, so much for sourcing food from Australia. Have heard there is a lot of misnaming of fish in Australia. Does McDonalds still use reconstituted orange juice from America, or anywhere else other than Australia?

    • Don't knock the yank OJ: Oz sells to US when our Navel oranges are in season and vice versa. The result is win-win for each country with about the same quantities each way. (I don't drink OJ unless pulp-free due to allergic reaction, so can't comment on quality)
