Genuine Apple Lightning to USB Cable (1m) $18.50 @ Exeltek $11.95 Ship/$0 Pickup Mulgrave Vic

31

Looking for some genuine apple cables after being fed up with non-genuine cables not working and failing. Came across the best price at Exeltek and took it to officeworks to get the 5% pricebeat ($17.58). I believe there are 4 left at Officeworks Maribyrnong and 21 at South Melbourne.
First time poster so please be kind :)

  • or you can get the Huntkey MFI cable for $12 http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=huntkey+mfi&spo…

It is licenced and uses the proper chip, and will not give you error messages.

      $12 is 30-pin, 8-pin lightning is $19 :)

  • Price Matching is NOT a bargain…

    • +2

What happens if you price match a bargain?

      • you post the bargain, not the price match… read the posting rules.

JV's right. Post the bargain, then mention the pricematch in the title.

    • This is a price beat. Is this not different? The cable is $25.00 from the apple store and not often discounted.. Exceltek price was $18.50 and I paid $17.58…

        Is this not different?

        No, read the posting rules.

You need to post the original deal, not the price match…

  • The thing I like about purchasing genuine apple is that if there are any dramas they will simply replace it. I have had this experience several times in the past year with cables, an AirPort Extreme and a time capsule. Unit replaced. The cable was almost 2 years old and had frayed and they were happy to replace it….

    • if there are any dramas they will simply replace it.

and on ebay, they will simply refund you… you don't even have to return the cable…

Like I said, I've done my time with cheap eBay cables. If you have an eBay seller that will send you a new cable 2 years after you bought it fantastic. More to the point if an eBay cable lasts for 2 years that's amazing! Mine have ever only lasted a couple of months…. The one I previously bought is actually discharging the phone now!

        • At a couple of dollars each, I don't expect them to last the life of the phone… I'll be upgrading the phone on 2-3 years anyway…

I have an issue with Apples mentality on this though, I have to take it in to an Apple store which the closest one is half an hour a way. I have a nextbyte less than 10 minutes away and I can't take it in there even though they are an authorised repairer and reseller it has to go in to an Apple store to be swapped.

    • So what you are saying is that most of Apples products "cables, an AirPort Extreme and a time capsule" fail with in two years. Doesn't sound like the best quality.

      • Possibly. Also think I just got unlucky. Never had an issue with my iPad, Apple TV, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air :)

Unfortunately, I have been unlucky with my iPad and iPhones. (and at Work our iMacs have had issues) Need to waste the time to go in to an Apple store for a replacement.

If you have AppleCare on your iPhone they can do what's called 'Express Replacement Service' where they send you out a new phone and you just send your old one back (All at Apple's expense :)

  • I've had my original iphone 3 cable for 5 years, still chargers my iphone 4 that my kids use

    • My Apple cables and chargers have been very reliable. I will give them that.

    • The 30 pin cable was amazing, lasted forever I have never had one break after a lot of use. Lightning cables, the original broke and aftermarkets aren't nearly as good but I just can't get down to an Apple store to get them replaced (I can but it's not worth it by the time I have to drive for 30 mins and pay for parking).

  • I just did a side by side test with the non-genuine and the Apple cable and the difference is huge. Definitely worth the dollars IMHO.

I don't think you will get anyone disagreeing with you on quality.
      The issue is price.

If you want some extra cables for office, briefcase, car, work car, study, holiday house etc… you want a few cheap cables just in case. i generally use my original ones, but it is handy to have a few cheap spare ones. You can get 10 spare "emergency" cables for $9 verses $100-$200. Quantity verses quality is sometimes a reasonable trade off.

It's $5 more than apple (which includes free shipping) if you include shipping… No deal.

    • You negged because you would have to pay postage because you're not in VIC? Bit unreasonable don't you think?! If everyone who couldn't take advantage of a deal due to their own location negged it then what's the point?

      • +1

I agree a tiny bit about not living within driving distance of mulgravebargain.com.au but… Do you think $11.95 shipping is reasonable for a single cable? Apple couriers them for free.
