Disclaimer:

I personally use Apex launcher, just saw this deal on appsales and thought it's worth posting. The code works on my phone, says it add 10 extra additional features. But I'm totally new to this launcher. So, please, if you are using it or plan to use it, feel free to discuss the pros and cons. Thanks!

Edit:

Thanks for all the comments! Like I said, I haven't used this app before. I just saw this on appsales and thought since this launcher is on Google Play Top paid app chart, there might be some people like this deal.

Anyway it's a cheap way to experiment it before you actually buying it. Last time I checked, it is selling for $6.56 on google play. So, it's a save for people who do like it and use it I guess.

A good suggestion is to leave your feedback(good or bad) on google play market, that way you let developers know you don't like certain behaviors(such as overselling other apps) and warn potertial buyers.

Cheers!

  • Wait, how do I access the preferences tab thingy in order to put in the code?
    EDIT I've got it!

    • +1

Press the menu button on your device (I have S4). The menu will open up, click preferences, scroll down to About GO Launcher EX and click on Activation!!!

    • I said above I'm new to this. ^_^
I would think Go Launcher Pro and Go Launcher Prime is the same thing? Anyway, before I entered the promotion code, there's a big banner promoting me to upgrade. Now it's gone.
And if you check the app version, it simply says 5.0

  • which menu u go to?

    • When you press "home", it ask you to select Go Launcher EX, then click the vertical "…" for menu.

  • +6

Apex is better. Doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but is lighter on resources.

    • Yeah, I tend to agree, looks pretty though. It even auto-grouped my apps! But I don't know its a pro or con to be honest. For example, it puts Amazon Kindle to "Learning" not "Reading".

  • +1

if i uninstakk my current copy of free go launcher, will i be able to enter the code? Any way around it?

    • I have no idea. It says new users only. But I don't know how they can tell if you reinstall. You can always try it and let us know! :-)

      • +1

nice, after i uninstalled my old copy, and reinstalled with new go launcher, it automatically upgraded to prime version

        • Glad to hear it!

  • +1

For some reasons (you know it) I thought of the deal would open to Amazon website apps store.
    I am too OzBargained!

  • +9

Good deal, but I'll stick with Nova Prime.

  • +3

Didn't really like it and gave up. thanks though :)

  • I have unlocked the pro version with the code,

I was wondering say I am getting my tablet delivered in a few weeks, and i use the same google account to install the app, will I have access to the pro version?

or its only valid to install and activate within 3 days?

I guess i have the same question for other apps i have activated in a similar way.

    • No experience with this particular app, but when I bought Nova and a few other apps I use on my phone and tablet, they've been tied to my Google account, rather than to 1 specific device.

    • +1

My guess is no. Only the free version is lined to your account. If you uninstall the pro version which was activated with the code, then you will lose the pro, even after reinstalling on same device.

      • +1

Yes I don't like those promo to enter code. You will loose the 'pro' activation after you reinstall the app later. So they not only tied to the device but also tied to the current installation. Not to mention the spam message that still come up from time to time to get you to pay for it.

    • Usually the "extra" activation is tied to the device. Sometimes you can use apps like Titanium backup to backup/restore the specifically activated app after clearing the system.
But this one may be different.

      • Ah I see, this one does not have a seperate entry in the market for the paid version. So it would be tied to the device.

  • +12

Even the pro version if full of advertising app "Get Now" icons etc. Pretty annoying, thought the pro would remove that crap

  • +26

Wow! Super spammy "Buy this"/"Try that" crap all over my phone (Even after activation).
Tries to redirect your App Store preferences to it's own store.
    Changes your wallpaper without asking.

This is targeted at new users who don't know that this launcher will use your data in the background to download ads, get revenue from advertising to you, and make your phone very pretty.

There are other launchers that will just make the phone pretty, without all the spammy crap. Yes, they cost money. But they're worth it.

    Uninstalled after about 10 minutes.

    • +3

My experience exactly mirrors yours. Really annoying 'crap' all over the ph and I've now uninstalled it although I still have the wallpaper from it for some reason.

      • The wallpaper is dabbed in the phones memory. Once you change it to something else it'll be gone for good!
Ps. I also uninstalled it… along with its extras!!!

  • +2

Nova Prime. Purchased when it was on for $0.25 thru Google Play sales a year or so ago. Bestest purchase ever! So light on resources, simple and elegant.
Tried Go for 10 minutes and now uninstalled

  • +5

Last time I installed, it drained my battery like anything.
    Nova is probably the best.

  • +3

Yep I'm staying away from this. Greedy devs.

    • +2

I agree. Probably just a bait marketing to lure more sales towards their other apps. Thanks for not negging

  • +35

    this launcher is crap

it drains battery quickly cos all the "extra" stuff on there

it tries to sell you everything, including - themes, wallpaper etc..

It is just a launcher to spam, advertise to sell you more of their crap…
Hardly any of the stuff is free…
You need to buy it or install other crap to get coins to get stuff in their store..

I uninstalled it after using it for a while and got fed up with their spam/selling…and resource hogging..

Also their prime promotion is fake, it reverted to free after a while, even though I enter the code…

I am now using a much better launcher that doesn't try to sell you stuff everywhere…

    • -1

i use the standard version and just block all internet access for it with a firewall. no ads, updates etc.

      • Can you do this on an unrooted phone?

      • +2

The firewall itself drain the battery!

        • Can you do this on an unrooted phone?

yes, you need super-user access to run a firewall

The firewall itself drain the battery!

not really, it is just iptables running on the device in the background. not very computationally intensive.

        • i actually meant to say "no" in the first answer above. you need super-user access to your phone, ie, you need to root your phone

    • +1

      A thousand times this.

Other major launchers are SO much better.

Since a launcher is something you will be using constantly it's worth investing a little for a good one instead of getting free spam like this (and the good ones have free versions too if you really don't want to spend any money).

      Take your pick:

      Nova - stable, good customisations
Apex - more things included in the free version compared to Nova last time I checked
Action launcher - for if you want something a little different

All 3 are highly recommended and you cannot go wrong with any of them.

  • +4

Tried hated sorry (won't neg you tho :)

    • Thanks!

  • +6

I installed. I tried. I deleted. Too much 'junk' all over the screens. Yes, I could delete it but first impressions are what counts. Definitely not neg worthy because it is still a bargain if you are happy to spend time cleaning it up. Just not for me.

  • +7

    Spam launcher. Uninstalled.

  • +5

Wow, I've never been a fan of anything from Go, but damn this launcher installs so many junk icons asking to install their other apps.

    • +1

Just more to add, switched back to Action Launcher and it started spamming notifications. Then for the nail in the coffin, upon uninstalling it opens your browser to the Go site to download one of their apps.

  • I'm using Next Launcher 3D from the same company right now. How's the difference with battery consumption between the Next and Go launchers?

    • +2

It's on Ozbargain, it's free. Mixed together and then there will be chaos.

    • Like you still need to give your reason to neg vote.
Give us constructive feed back you are going to neg it.
      Don't just be a tool.

      • +2

        Ok then,

Full of adds, drains your battery, full of spam, crappy compared to what else is out there for free. To me that constitutes a major issue with a free product, as per requirements for negative vote. Negative appears to have been removed though, Que Sera.

        • Well that wasnt hard. This is a perfectly good reason. If you gave that explanation in the first place you neg vote would not have been removed.

However if you want, you can message a mod and may be they can reinstate your neg vote.

I dont like the deal myself, but i dont see any more reason to neg this.

Neg people with out reason can discourage them to post deal in the future and make them feel unwelcome.

        • Hopefully the 112 positive votes so far is enough keep their spirits up…

They might serve to mislead people into thinking its a good deal too though…

          Hmmm

  • +1

Battery already drains so quickly…have to miss this deal. Always prefer to keep it simple approach

  • +4

  • When you have one of the best launchers out on your handsets it's just plain hard to compare.

All in all its a good launcher and I have used there's before but nova prime has it for me.

  • +5

I tried it the last time if it was free, it was utter crap. Spam everywhere, and it messed up my settings.

  • +4

This app used to be very good actually when it first came out during the earlier android releases, no spam no ads no junkware just great customization/transitions and icons. They must've made a deals with other companies as they became more famous… and now when I tried it it's horrible, uninstalled it right away.

    • Yep, can remember being happy with it on my galaxy s. Progress eh

  • +3

Installed and immediately got spam all over my phone. Plus some changes were made without even asking permission. Uninstalled after 10 minutes.

  • +2

Ive tried all launchers when I first got my note 3, ended up with nova prime, I dont feel there is anything better

    • i gave the free nova launcher a try and it seems ok. go launcher uninstalled :)

      • if you haven't already get Wanam Xposed also : D

  • +1

Appreciate the good work and your noble intentions wowoyu.

    • thanks!

  • For anyone that has installed this, then deleted it… Look into your files folder, there's a heap of crap (and some interesting) files left behind!!!
