UBER deal this morning - stuffed it up apologies guys

I only post deals from time to time, mostly others are quicker on the draw, but I like to give back something when I see it as I have scored so many awesome bargains here.

This morning I reposted a deal that was not allowed as the user was new to Ozabargain. The code was "UBERSUPERRIDE" apparently I am told this is somebodies unique code. Sucked me in as in doesnt look like any referral code I have seen before and it came up on a few voucher sites when I Googled it. Basically I had no idea it was a dud as we have had so many Uber codes before.

Anyway, the long and short of it is, I have come back after a busy morning and the deal was unpublished and maked as a"scam". Wow, that really sucks. I hope people here have gotten some idea of me in my time here and know I would never pull a cheap shot like that.

Like Stewballs said the other day, people are reluctant to post lest they get shot down. Actually, there are still some honest people around and I like to think of myself as one of them.

So anyway, certainly sorry if that deal messed anyone around.

It happens, I wouldn't take the incident which occurred too personally - the most you can do in your situation is to let your previous posts and the sincerity of this one do the talking.

You're forgiven, wasn't a big deal in the first place - keep posting on.

its cool bro, fyi i got bitten, funny is the website didnt warn us that the code is invalid or unique or something like that but just process the registration and give $10 instead.
    im fine

  • I can see why you are upset. I unpublished it with the reason referral scam. It wasn't a reflection on you but a previous poster who had posted the same deal earlier in the day. He posted it falsely claiming a $50 credit (we removed deal) and then you reposted it believing the deal to be true.

I have now changed the reason to non-working deal.

Thank you, Neil. I prefer it like that.
      Cheers.

The problem is that for Uber referrals, they can create their own code to make them look "official".

      OK, interesting.
So therin lies the problem. People can made their own official-looking codes. Uber might want to have a look at that. It certainly caused today's problem.

      • hmm but when i try to use someone else code when you about to register the top box will have something like:

"you will get $10 using xxx referal code"

but this morning, didnt see such warning

Steer clear of Uber. They make all sorts of claims that they later cannot substantiate. There are heaps of legal proceedings against them. They have also been told to stop operating in many places, including Queensland.

and yet they still run a fantastic hire car service. why would anyone stop using them, when they provide an excellent service at a reasonable price?

  • i still want to try because i have free credit on my account. are they reliable? thinking to use it to go to airport
