That's the normal Optus price. Not a deal.

A true Ozbargainer would be leeching free WiFi wherever they go instead of paying an insane amount for mobile broadband.

    • ^ that too

    • I have an android phone and tablet so I just tether my phone's internet to the tablet through wi-fi.

Quiet a crap price per GB IMHO.

  • Less than $10 per gb

How is that a bargain ?

  • +1

40$ for 12 gbs per month for one year. Virgin

    • Is that $40 for 12GB of data that doesn't expire for 365 days? Wow, that is good. Can't see it on their site though. Can only see $40 a month plan for 12GB. Anyone got a link?

My interpretation of his comment is:
It is a 12 months contract. You pay $40/month.

      • this was posted in postpaid section but no contract is required for this plan, simply pay $40/moth for 12gb:
        http://www.virginmobile.com.au/Shop/ProductSummary/12992/SIM-Kit-Starter-Pack-Virgin-Mobile-Broadband-$40-BYO

        • Plus free pocket WiFi device… uses Optus networks. I got it, coverage is good and price for data

  • Are you specifically looking for long expiry?

If you eat through a lot of data within a month, you can get up to 15GB (4G) for $60 with Optus pre-paid $2 days :
    http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/10/optus-2-days-now-offers…

Or if you rarely use it (e.g. weekends), but when you use it you use a lot, this could also be the right way to go.

I use amaysim on my iPad. I use the 'as you go' plan and buy a 10 GB data plan. It costs $99.90 and doesn't expire for 365 days.

    • that is not 4G though…

      Optus and Virgin include 4G

  • exetel 10gb per month $39.00

    • +1

optus 365 days expiry vs your 30 days, not the same thing

      • Oh, and the price difference too.

  • This looks like a decent deal for me. Does anyone know of any better deals for small usage?
    eg. 1-2gb per month ?

I used to be on aldi (still am) but they've upped their prices (and data allowance to 3gb) which is more than what i need.

    • Dodo prepaid had 12 month expiry as an option with starter pack. 250MB month peak or 500 off peak. Around $30 or less on special

  • This is the best deal so far i found. Less than $10 per gb

You need to learn how to look better I'm afraid. ;)

I second fellow ozbargainer imket. Virgin offers the best value mobile broadband in this country when taking into account the cost per GB.

If you are looking for long expiry, Amaysim is probably as good as it gets.

Father in law got this, im gonna say the same thing to you…

    You got ripped

  • Lebara - 1GB + 1GB bonus (2GB) for $10. 30 day expiry. Means 24GB for 12 months, assuming they'll provide the bonus for the full year. Uses Vodafone as the backend. See http://www.lebara.com.au/data-packs if interested.

  • im lucky still on Woolies mobile now run by optus includes 5 gig data for $26 recharge 45 day expiry so just over $5 a gig. And iinet have this plan …4G Mobile Broadband 10GB $34.95 a month ($3.50 per GB) excess 2c/MB

I think what op meant to say is this is the best long expiry deal on 4g network.
I'm in the same situation that i'm looking for cheap total 12 months cost on good reliable network. My monthly data usage is mostly less than 500mb.

    • Is speed that important? Esp. for 500 millibits :p

  • Now, Dodo offered a Buddy Box for $35 on a 24 mon (free on 36 Mon) contract.

A $9.90 / mon got you $10.00 call credit. Untimed calls to local tel.no's: $0.29

Data is optional: $10.00 / block of 1 GB

Buddy Box uses Optus 3G, but needs 240 v AC for its power block.

    How would this compare?

  • Am I right, that unused credit rolls over to the next month's amount, up to 36 GB?
    (per Crit Info Summary)

  • So, has anyone considered alternatives to buying Retail, eg:

    1. nonprofit buying groups?
    2. connecting your ADSL data on a community Mesh N/W, to get it to where you need to use it (limited to a few special cases, of course, not to many/all)

Has anyone tried to take the mob of vendor, who offer data at $10 / GB to, eg, ACCC… for PRICE FIXING?

  • What a rip. oh & they use the cheaper 2100mhz stuff most of the 3g from what i hear
As if I will shift from 61¢-a 35oMB, 85oMhz premium in-building cover for cheapness.
