Kogan 55" 4K for $999

Hi, I am following Oz Bargain for a good while, very interesting topics and useful links. Thanks!
I am into buying my first large screen TV.
What do you think about Kogan's deal?
http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/55-agora-4k-smart-3d-led-tv-uhd/
Is Agora a reasonable good quality product?
Any better options?
Cheers,
Laszlo

  • I'm considering getting it for my parents too, however one of my friend suggested that it might not be a good idea to get from Kogan, if anyone can comment that'd be great.

    • Thanks donga, that link is usefull, I'll follow the discussion.

  • alright some people have alot $$$ to burn, but i believe most of ozb member will advise to get full HD LED tv for now and save those $.
or, if you really must have to need to get 4K (you sure the quality and alot tv/media compatible with 4k?)
then get proper brand…not from kogan.

  • Note that the shipping date from this has been constantly pushed back. I think when it was launched it was going to ship at the start of May. No word on if it will get pushed back again.

    • Yes, that is a bummer that I won't be able to watch Soccer WM2014 on a bigger screen…

We purchased a 48" Kogan T.V. 5 years ago which has never worked properly. Beautiful picture & sound to start with - but after apx. 10 mins. the picture goes into bright blue lines & the sound becomes a terrible screech. This happened ever since having it installed. Kogan have never been interested in our complaints apart from ship it back to be checked ( really ? - it would cost the same again ! ) But then ( silly us ) saw a state of the art coffee maker for $500.00 with an apparently retail value of $2000.00 - what a load of crock this useless item is too - will be going in a garage sale. Kogan- our recommendation would be to stay well clear from this company.

    • Thanks goosegog, so far I only bought one Kogan ethernet caera which I never was able to make it run. So probably I give it a miss …

  • Yeah…someone pointed me at the 55" Kogan after I bought my 55" Samsung UHD. I am led to believe that I got the last boxed 55" UHD in Victoria from JB HiFi and they gave it to me at a price lower than the 55" FHD (2013 model UHD vs 2014 FHD)…I've been enjoying it for a week now…it is seriously awesome and the 3D is superb.

I haven't heard anything great from Kogan branded TV's…for every "yeah it's OK" story there is a "WTF!" comment to go with it. A big TV like this you want really good service as it's a bee-yatch to lug around.

  • 4k TV's are going to be great when the NBN comes around…Oh - that's right, the old roll-out was going to be too slow, so now it's FTTN, if and when the roll-out starts again. Still, I'm glad I'll be getting it sooner than last october.

If it's decent 55" 1920 x 1080 monitor it'd still be good for gaming, but unless you have cable or fibre, it'll be saved downloads and friends' ` I shot this in 4k because my phone can' videos…

I took a punt & bought the Kogan 55" 4k. Delivered 10 May without any extension of delivery time.
Great picture quality. Reasonable sound. Not great-not bad. Easy setup.
My only beef is standby light is so big n bright, I need to turn TV off completely at night.
    Would I buy again? Yes
