Shingleback D Block Reserve Shiraz 2010 ($179.90+Shipping - 6x Bottles) @ Dan Murphy's

60

Looks like Dan Murphy's is getting in on the secret deal wines. They have two deals listed but I only looked up the Shiraz as I do not expect the Shiraz Cabernet to be any good.

The Shiraz matches the exact description of the same wine on their site:
https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_767827/shingleback-…

A decent savings for those who are after this particular wine.

Note the price does NOT include shipping and this deal is online delivery order only!

  • The James Halliday review also matches winecompanion site - great find!

  • Just had a look on the DM Site - The Cab Sav is also on sale for $70 a case (normally $128.99):

Anyone tried the shiraz or cab?

    • haven't had this exact one but Shingleback generally very solid stuff.

    • The D Block Shiraz is one of my most favourite wines from one of my most favourite wineries in McLaren Vale. At this price it is a great buy.

  • The James Halliday review on the Shingleback D Block Reserve Shiraz 2010 was:

"Full purple-crimson; the bouquet is expressive and complex, with a mix of herb and spice, the medium- to full-bodied palate with singular intensity and length to its array of blackberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and earth flavours. The combination may seem odd, but comes together very well."

The James Halliday review on the 'Secret' wine:

"Full purple-crimson; the bouquet is expressive and complex, with a mix of herb and spice, the medium- to full-bodied palate with singular intensity and length to its array of blackberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and earth flavours. The combination may seem odd, but comes together very well."

I think we should be safe. I am guessing the 'screw cap' on the secret wine is an error.

  • I ordered some so will let everyone know.

  • Received my delivery - it was the Shingleback D Block Reserve Shiraz but not 2010. I received the 2009 vintage. Whilst this technically negates the review on the site they do give an * to say that vintages may vary across store location and delivery. Ultimately if I had know this was a 2009 vintage up front I would have still purchased anyway as I do love this wine :)
