Trading @ EB Games

Hey guys.
Has anyone traded a game @ EB Games lately and what did you trade and how much did you get for it?
I'm deciding whether to trade in my Wii with games and controllers or whether to just sell them @ a garage sale?

Off the top of my head I think the Wii console with 1 remote, 1 nunchuck and all relevant power and av cables trades in for like $24. Any extra remotes will trade for a few bucks each. Game prices will vary drastically depending on the game…

  • Usually I don't trade in if I can avoid it because the trade-in value is a bit of a let down. Generally I try to sell online or locally through FB sites. Went to EB a few weeks ago however and traded 3 games, got about $40 value. I was surprised because they weren't games with major hype, honestly thought i'd get less.
Considering they sell them cheap-ish, you can't expect much for your stuff. It's all about convenience I guess, would you rather have patience to sell what you have independently for a little higher return or save time and do it all in one transaction - assuming you're going after something they sell at EB Games.

  • EB are also running a promotion this week for 50% extra trade credit for preorders - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147635

Only real problem is that 50% extra on $2 is $3… so depending on the games, may not be a huge difference

    • Don't forget the eb world trade in extra value can be added towards that 50

    • The 50% bonus is only on games, the console wouldn't get a bonus. But still a good time to do it if you're going to do it.

  • I traded in Just Dance for the Wii-U and only got $13 bucks. You never really get much back, almost better to have a garage sale.

ye I'm thinking about just donating all my old PS3 games. the money will go to a good place rather than EB.

When i look to trade things, i see Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars just saying 'its a great product, i'd really love to help you out, but i can only offer you 1/3 of that cause you see…' lol

Garage Sale, or Gumtree would get you a better cash value.

I've had some pretty good success with Gumtree for selling games and consoles.

If you can't be bothered sticking through the time wasters and low ballers, then EB Games is quick an easy, but much less in terms of what you'll get for it.

    • I concur, just gumtree the shit, people collect this crap, or want more wii remotes etc. Sell it in a bundle of a decent price.

  • at least it not cash convertors, i saw someone sold their copy of demon crest for snes for 5$ ouch..

  • I've traded a fair few games recently and the majority of the trade prices were about 1/3 of the pre-owned price on their website. Keep in mind for Wii games there's a good chance you'll get dinged $1 refurb fee for scratches on the disc as well (it doesn't take much for them to charge that fee).

Ok thanks heaps guys. Think I might just sell them at a garage sale :)

  • $9 Nintendoland, $7.50 for just dance 2014, $25 skylanders bundle

    • $9 Nintendo land and then selling for $30? yeesh

  • Just out of curiosity how much would you pay for Wii black console, controller, goldeneye, wii sports, Mario kart, super smash bros and 4 gamecube games?

    • +1

      Probably like $100

    • Note that smash bros and mario kart still go for like 50 bucks, might stop soon tho due to the newer versions on wii u.

  • How much is EB trading for a PS3 superslim 5gb with 2 controllers currently?

    • Ill buy from you which area?

      • Melbourne

  • I would rather sell on Gumtree. I sold a Wii and PS2 with most fake games and a few accessories for $150.

I sold my PS3 and 20-25 games on gumtree and used it to my PS4. I have the console, 7 games and an extra controller and still have $50 left over. EB were offering about $400 for all the gear.
