I have been trolling the masters clearance section for bargains to use with the 10% discount: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147841

They have a bunch of BBQ's half price then you can save a bit more with the voucher. I printed the voucher and scanned it at the self checkout no problems.

If you want to really impress the neighbours this is the one for you:

I bought this one https://www.masters.com.au/product/900039823/grand-hall-gt5-… for $663 back last month guttered its dropped so much and bought it outright should have put it on Gem VISA and got the difference back.

Anyhow sister went down to local where I got it from, and they said none in stock in QLD. Also wasn't able to place an order as it was limited to the stock.

I see now on masters website they've got a special order thing there now too. Not sure what happens with the ones not in stock and that the one I bought isn't even showing on there.

Dont waste your money on it. Gas bbq is not good. Doesnt taste like bbq, its just outdoor cooking with a stove.
If you really want the taste of proper bbq you need to use wood or charcoal.

If you want to spend about a $1000 and get something you can really make good use of, get something like a Big Green Egg. aka Komodo from BBQ galore. Impress your mates with never before tasted vegies, fish, meats, etc.. Smoke makes the food taste better. You wont get that with a crappy gas bbq.

Again, gas cooking is not a bbq.

Hands up who sees all these "burnt out" gas cookers out on hard rubbish days.

Sorry can't agree to that one at all.

Always amazes me how people try to fit an action to justify their claims. Maybe you need to get a new job as a journalist or politician (they both spin things the same)

BBQ's bought 10 years ago cost twice what they cost now. In the past I repaired mine by buying new burners $25-30 each ($100-120). But for $150 I can buy a fairly good new unit, that has better features as well, that looks smarter etc

So like an iron, TV toaster etc BBQ's are now disposable items when they need "repair"

This could be as big a reason, and my guess a bigger reason for those rubbish day gas cookers

BTW not my neg vote on your comment, although using your reasoning, I could spin those votes as being for my point of view couldn't I :)

  • I bought the GT5 last time they have 50% off and then got the 15% off from the Petrol deal. Great BBQ. Was looking around for a BBQ at the time and was by far the best value for a decent sized BBQ.

    • I got the GT4 and couldn't be happier . It lights first time and gets very hot very quick .
Faults are that it is a bit flimsy and the main plate is a bit thin and warps but seems to straighten back out when you add the meat . I got it for $190 and the GT5 was ~$230 , I can't believe they can make it for that . My old barbie was a kmart Jackeroo job that lasted 12 years , Still worked but was looking a bit shabby . If I get another 12 years I will be very happy .
