AUFREEDELIVERY

Was looking to buy a Le Creuset French Oven for my sister and noticed that John Lewis was offering free delivery to Australia on orders over GPB100 until 17 June. Purchased a 24cm round french oven in satin black for GBP108.75 (approx. $196) delivered which beats every shop in Australia I would imagine:

Strangely enough, the 26cm is only GBP96 but my sister was after a 24cm.

  • But they do not remove the (20%) VAT (GST)?
Try Amazon.co.uk in comparison? At least they take off the 20%

    • Yes, I did try Amazon UK but they do not ship Le Creuset to Australia.

    • John Lewis will take off the VAT.

Where you are not a UK resident and you have requested delivery to a non-EU address, the Products will normally be zero-rated and not subject to UK VAT, but the price paid by you for the Products will remain the same as shown on the Website.

If you are a non-UK resident and wish to claim back VAT on orders for delivery outside the EU, or if you are an EU business customer, this website may not be appropriate for you and you may want to place your order through our specialist export service - find out more. Shipping costs offered by our export service will be higher than the cost of the delivery service offered by JL Delivery Ltd via the Website.

My bold - so they are zero rated but we pay it anyway…and they make a nice little extra profit - maybe offsets the 'free' shipping ..?

        • Weird… I received a quote from them to ship something on their "unavailable for shipping" list… and they quoted me a price less VAT. So yeah, maybe because I'm not getting free shipping?

        • Yes I had assumed M&S used vat to subsidise or totally cover the cost of shipping when they do it free too.

I want free shipping from Debahams and Next UK for their cheap clearance items!

  • Nice price for the black satin, but I'm pretty sure this colour does not have the enamel coating. It's just like a regular cast iron pot…? Maybe someone else can confirm.

  • This one is still valid, doesn't expire until 30th June: http://www.johnlewis.com/customer-services/information-about…
