  Thanks, but NZ$29.95 for the SIM and another NZ$40 for only 512mb over 30 days is not much of a deal.

  I have already looked on the provider sites at the retail deals.

  I was hoping someone might have a code or link for a better deal in the tradition of OzBargain.

    In many ways the kiwi's have cheaper and better services than us. But with mobile phones they are being screwed. I spent many hours looking for the same for a 2 week trip I made in April and had no real success. Like you the rates offered for prepaid sims wasn't attractive.

    One thing I did find was the availability of wireless hotspots. There is a NZ coffee chain that provides this free if you buy a coffee.

    Not ideal but it worked plus I found some free hotspots in the airports. As I was on Hols it wasn't too bad - but that might not suit you.

  Thanks, that's quite a good find. Unfortunately I will spend most of my time in the South of the South island and this chain does not have any stores South of Christchurch.

  I did look into McDonalds NZ to see if they have free wireless service like they do here, but there is nothing on their website (so unlikely) and have not heard back about my direct inquiry to them.

  Does anyone know if there is a whirlpool type site in NZ that includes 3g wireless?
