    Can anyone tell me if the Lenovo NAS any good. Does it run on some variant of Linux.

      Lenovo bought out the company that bought out iOmega… There might be another inception level I've missed, but end point is its just an iOmega NAS.
      Had a couple, average quality, average software. The old units used to be unusable when the bundled drives died…

        Review seems to reflect the same as previous versions - slow transfer speeds being the main drawback.

        I'd pay a bit extra for the Synology, great devices. Or jump up to a HP Microserver (4 bay), but then it's custom kit..

      i didn't :P. Equivalent/similar specs from Synology and Qnap cost around double or more - when you hit the rocks you know it can't go further down.

      Both model you asking will not have any promotion this June. Until a large batch of Gen8 suddently appear in Australia, the prices are not going to go near old prices anymore.

      They keyboard is a very good deal, but the postage brings it up to a few dollars more than Binglee's Friday the 13th Sale. I have been eying off a new keyboard for my HTPC, I will need to resist due to some recent Ozbargain splurging :)
