Wow, no installation? It should be free installation. Also, you can't direct link it, because there is too much scripting. Go to offer page instead, otherwise free install doesnt show up. http://join.austar.com.au/Join/Pages/DealsAndOffers.aspx

lol. A heads up for anyone who does this…

I got mine connected in May with no contract (exactly same offer). After one month I lowered down to basic. (Been on that ever since). Yesterday I rang up Austar to "cancel" (not really, just wanted a better deal)…

Now I only pay $29.95/mo for 6 months (not a contract, just a reduced rate)!

I don't benefit from this offer, it's not a referral number it is the offer code, try increment it by one and see you will get a different offer! Thank you Mnke I will update the post to include the online offer page.

very very nice offer :( been wanting foxtel to do that for a while cos austar doesnt service my area… :(

  • Very Nice signed up today intend to cancel at the end of the month and realign the dish for selectTV or try for the 29/month with austar (one way around selectTV's huge install fee & I already have a Sat + FTA PVR)

  • this offer is not free . Minimum monthly subscription is $62.90

  • Anyone know what equiment they're gonna give us to get the service up and running? A dish and a digital box? Will they be any useful if i decide to cancel the service?

  • 66cm Dish & bog standard UMC Sat box (that you have to hand in when cancel), the dish and cabling stay, if you decide some point down the track you want SelecTV, you do have to move the dish a few degrees so it points to Intelsat 8 (This isnt as easy as it sounds but I have done it before) and grab yourself another Sat box, (around $125), much cheaper than the $435 that SelecTV charge for a Installation. If you dont watch sports the selectv basic package is better value in my opinion at $37.95 a month no contract (Buy yourself a starters pack for $50-$60 on eBay and this includes a simcard and the first 2 months free)

You get 3 movie channels in the select basic package.
Intelsat 8 has a few Free to Air channels you can also add
one in Cantonese, Arabic, Korean and a few in english but nothing real exciting apart from a few live sports
feed channels that broadcast NBA, FIFA and PGA Golf but theses are only live when there is something on

Austar basic is $40 more channels but mostly junk

    comes down to personal choice…

    • If you wanna watch movie mostly; select tv = best value.
If you wanna watch anything else (sport, general entertaintment, music, news, documentaries etc.) Austar = Best. I am only paying $29.95/mo for austar (read my above comment). In the first month I had everything, and i watched one movie. 1 Movie! So austar is better for me.

  • Wow, come on Foxtel.

  • Sonicentrophy, you're the man! {or the woman :)} Thank you very much for the useful info. I think i will go for Austar. I don't watch old movies on TV, the only reason i need pay TV is for sport.

  • I really haven't decided to stick with Austar or change to SelectV after the month.
I found out today Austar have locked down the security so you can only use "AUSTAR" supplied boxes (unlike foxtel & selectv) to receive Austar and I really wanted to use my MEDIASTAR 8100 PVR to record satellite, but with Austar it is not a option. I could always pay the 15 bucks extra a month for the MYSTAR PVR Box. See what they can do price wise when I call up to cough cough "cancel" thanks for the tip sickllama.

    • lol. k

they also offered me free install and free first 3 months on mystar instead of the $30/mo deal. they only offered me these two deals totally separately, I couldn't have both
