I bought one of these tandy 55" TVs the other day: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148199 , and ended up bringing it back after 4 days. Backlight bleed everywhere, The blacks were dark grey (could hardly read the laptop text when it was plugged in) and you had to be directly infront of the TV or the colors warped.

I don't consider myself very fussy over picture quality, but this thing was horrible.

Dicksmith now sell it under their own brand: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/dick-smith-54-5-138cm-full-h…

Note that the DSE specs are suspiciously similar to the kogan tv:
    - Brightness (typical) - 330cd/m2
    - Contrast Ratio - 4000:1
    - Viewing Angle - 160 (horizontal)/ 150 (vertical) degrees

Just my 2c. If you are getting it as your main TV I wouldn't recommend something else. As a TV for the kids, go for it. They wont notice.

Would not touch one with a barge pole…. been caught with no name tvs before.

  • I have a Kogan 55 inch, backlight bleed is an issue when the screen is black in night/dark scenes. In HD fast motion sport will pixellate a bit when the camera moves quickly. Apart from that its a pretty good TV and excellent value.

  • I wouldn't bother. Rife sockpuppeting, and a poor quality product. I'll give him credit for shaking up the industry and ruffling Gerry's feathers - but that's about it.
